I have worked as a writer, graphic artist and photographer in publishing, pharmaceutical and hi-tech advertising, performing arts, new and traditional media, and am now working in the non-profit world again.
In my "spare time" (and to keep my skills sharp), I'm some combination of freelance writer, photographer and graphic artist for Our State Magazine, WRAL.com, a handful of local newspapers, and private industry.
My favorite pasttimes are spending time with my family, hiking, golfing, gardening, art history, knitting and reading. I also have high hopes of becoming a successful novelist and seeing the world before I'm too old to enjoy it.

Question on the last Gardening Gloves post: I usually try to start my seeds indoors, but many do not make it, only the hady one's do. I have a set up with lights inside, but it gets very hot in that room and dry, the only good free space. The seedlings look good for the first month then they get all scraggly. I've read to keep the light only a couple of inches above the plants. Do you have any tips that might help? Maybe I should try something else? Hmmm...
