I am the Managing Editor of GOLO. I've worked in broadcast, print and online news for 15 years in multiple markets including Cleveland, Tampa, West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. I moved to the area with my family in February 2007 and have had the pleasure of watching this community grow from its infancy.

I'm quite certain that you're as fed up with hearing from me about these things as I am fed up with it being necessary to say anything about them. One easy solution would be to simply deal with the people causing it by violating the rules which ostensibly carry some weight around here now? For example, attack blogs which remain up for an entire day before being pulled, despite abuse having been hit repeatedly.
As I've said many times before, you either have rules which are consistently and equilaterally enforced, or you in effect have no rules by default.
I don't begrudge you the burden of having to enforce them, but I do admit that I've come to feel that enforcement of the rules is more of an afterthought than a goal here, in deference to the actual goal of increasing membership numbers (and thereby advertising revenue), with the hope that problems will either resolve themselves or go away on their own.
I won't bother you on your profile further, but I do so in the belief that it's as pointless as pressing the abuse button is. Neither seems to result in any sort of action (unless the person doing so is a member of the clique, so to speak.) The rest of us are left to wonder why we're ignored.

Those of us with jobs and/or a life visit GOLO only to find that our comments are sliced and diced in a 3 or 4 to 1 post count because we can't stay on here 24/7. If you aren't a post hog... you may as well not have an opinion because you will be covered up by the same people posting over and over.
How can anyone disagree that 100 posts per day is enough feedback from a single user? What responsible adult can possibly post more than that daily? Maybe we go crazy and say 200 posts per day... but there should be a cap.
This way even if you don't agree with a particular "super user"... there is a chance that you can get a break from them.
That's my main beef with GOLO... a few people are posting in rapid fire fashion on seemingly every single blog.
It is not fair to allow an entire "community" to be completely saturated by a few posters.

but, i just wanted to let somebody know that there's some flaws on the search page. go to the link below, and using the checkboxes, search for something, let's say music in cary. after you get those results, now try to find restaurants in raleigh. it won't let you change your search. in fact, i have a hard time finding music in cary, it just shows me all music because once i click music, the page refreshes before i can click on cary. then, i am stuck and can't search for anything besides music. i hope this makes sense.

I love the selectiveness in all 3 of these posters. The only one that actually comes out with a point is Viper. The other two are .. well, never mind.
As for our conversation the other day and meeting people outside of golo, and then using a name, would you mind doing a blog about that? Might want to mention personal emails not relating directly to golo too. Might help you in your efforts.

good point. i think an automated abuse button would be a good approach. instead of human intervention being required to review abuse notifications, just make it so that after so many reports, an item is automatically removed. that removes all subjectivity.
