I am the Managing Editor of GOLO. I've worked in broadcast, print and online news for 15 years in multiple markets including Cleveland, Tampa, West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. I moved to the area with my family in February 2007 and have had the pleasure of watching this community grow from its infancy.
There is still so much more to come here at GOLO, so stay tuned. I think you're gonna like it here.

I don't visit golo to find others who agree with my views. I want to hear different views, and joining a group that shares my views doesn't fill that need. I just want to hear those other views expressed with civility and respect.
It would be nice if there were a group where that was the only requirement. Since there isn't, I'll just have to accept that there will be people whose primary debating tactics are bullying, intimidation and insults. At least when I encounter posters who constantly refer to others as idiots or worse, I can give their opinions the weight they deserve.

someone gave me a bag of boy clothes last week and asked if I knew of anyone that could wear that size (they know I will find someone that can use it) so I went through my list of folks that I know that are in need and came to a cousin by marriage with 3 boys and a girl,,,so I took the clothes to them when I went home for the funeral.
anyway, my sister called to say that the youngest one,,who is 5, grabbed out the pair of socks (the clothes were 10-12) and said "these are MINE, I don't have any socks so these are MINE" and put them one and wore them all that night. After awhile he came back into the living room and said, "well, I might not have any shoes but at least now I got socks"
OMG
his parents are both drug addicts, the dad put the mom in the hospital with broken ribs a week ago,,it's a nightmare and don't even get me started on social services,
