From KLTV.comProsecutors called a former Louisiana congressman's corruption the most extensive in the history of Congress. His punishment delivered a similar message.
William Jefferson, who famously hid $90,000 cash in his freezer, was sentenced Friday to 13 years in prison for taking bribes, the longest term ever imposed on a congressman for bribery.
The Democrat who represented parts of New Orleans for nearly 20 years was convicted in August of taking about $500,000 in bribes and seeking millions more in exchange for using his influence to broker business deals in Africa. Jefferson is appealing the conviction.
U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III said public corruption was "a cancer on the body politic."
"There must be some sort of greed virus that attacks those in power," said Ellis, who lamented that so many other congressmen have been convicted on similar charges.

Another blog reminded me about this, I say reminded me because it was on the 3rd page of my newspaper and was only a 4 paragraph story.
Even the one I just snipped is relatively short, it lacks detail and not surprisingly, it contains no harsh reaction from his fellow politicians, except for the officers of the court that is.
Where is the outrage, the calling for other heads to roll and the broad brush condemnation for one of the left's very own?
I don't see any, all I see is the MSM pretty much sweeping it under the rug and before you say "it was covered, it got plenty of coverage" or "it isn't a big deal" ask yourself what type of wall to wall, 24-7 scandal of the century there would be if this crook had a (R) instead of a (D) beside his name.
The longest corruption sentence ever for a congressman and hardly a whimper.
I guess the culture of marginalizing and destroying your enemy, while excusing your own for far worse is still alive and well, William Jeffers(D) from Louisiana takes it seriously, I guarantee you that.

You obviously know more about him than I do, even his last name, but all of what you said aside, the reason for his downfall was pressure and intolerance from the left for what he said on that occasion, not what he had done up to then.

Didn't mean to be inclusive in my statement...I am a Republican and I hate how my party has become distracted from the real issues Americans care about...and unfortunately, I don't thing we are learning anything yet...

Not really, Dems commit hypocrisy all the time and they do not get called on that either.
