time for iran's next delaying action
Published November 15, 2009Views: 308
"Delaying Action" has two meanings. One is an action that delays something, and the second is something that delays action. Not exactly the same here.
Iran is a master at both, and doing both in one stroke. Remember in September when the hidden nuclear site was revealed and an embarrassed west, which already knew of it but were beat to the punch by Iran, which resulted in Obama getting tough and Iran allowed inspectors in and entertained the Russia offer to export uranium to Russia to be sent back enriched? Looked like it was all coming to a head, but active talk fizzled back into a waiting game. The US saying, "don't make nukes" and Iran answering "we aren't" isn’t a fix, is it?
Does anyone believe Iran and that the west is just nuts / paranoid?
All the time -- with every tick of the clock, uranium is enriched, devices made to ignite it, rockets perfected to deliver it, and rhetoric spoken to justify it -- Iran advances toward having a nuclear bomb.
Does anyone believe Iran, that this ia about nuclear energy for Iran?
Well, out of sight, out of mind, but it is coming time for another move, another public show, even show down. Iran's last word was that despite the international scrutiny of its finances and arms import ban, that president Ahmadinejad claims Iran is now in the power position over the US and EU. Will the US ever do anything except talk? Is it just a waiting game, one with both sides buying time, with finger pointing by the USA & EU so we can say "we tried" in the end or is it ever going to come to more?
China and Russia have kept more from happening to Iran, but nearby Israel rightly feels they are the target Iran's potential destructive might and Iran has made that clear enough to the world. Even if Israel attacked Iran, it can't occupy Iran, and Iran will not stop developing the weapon, so Israel would simply be buying time too, with the attack being a delaying action.
An opportunity for action passed when sowing seeds for a revolution were perhaps possible during the Iranian election riots. Even Iran recognized that the events were the old seed beds the CIA would have capitalized on to change the policy by changing the government. NO WAR, just change the government to change the policy. Maybe something is going on now, or maybe the USA didn't have things in place, or the will. Be it the will or the way or the right day, nothing has actually happened in a long time as time brings us closer to something happening that we all fear -- Iranian Nukes.
From threat to Israel, to further de-stabilizing the region to terrorist access, another nuclear nation is contrary to any hope for peace and an increased chance of a nuclear nightmare happening in this world.
If I were a Vegas odds maker, I’d size it up this way: Iran is clearly the winner here. Iran is having its way in getting nukes and the USA is not having its way in stopping Iran. Iran is paying a price economically, but willing to do so to get what it wants. Iran is paying a price in international image, but Iran seems to bask in being the center of attention.
Nothing happens in isolation, and so the anti-American tie between Venezuela & Iran grows stronger with each day. Bolivia and Chavez have supplied uranium to Iran. Tehran has a policy aimed at building its ties with Latin American countries with the declared goal of “bringing America to its knees.” How would Chavez get a nuke fast?
Well, Florida would be in the range of current Iranian missiles from Venezuela. How much to you trust Chavez? Nukes could become articles of trade, and I believe in the laws of averages. Sooner or later, they will be used.
Millions of lives depend on decisions made all along the way.

I disagree--Our country is weaker than it has every been since I have been living in it. Just becasue we look tough don't mean twe are. If other countries did not think we had weakened so they would not be bragging on taking us down, because they would be afraid of retailiation. Other countries know we are weaker than we used to be. Say what you want but America used to be looked up to, but no more. All you have to do is listen and you will hear country after country criticize us daily so they can hear the president we have apologize to them for our actions.

And for the last time just because no WMD's were found in Iraq does not mean they didn't have them. It's just we couldn't find them, but then we couldn't find all those terrorists who ran into Pakistan and hide out in the Afghanistan and Iraq mountains either. We know those people are there but we can't find them.

Our country is still strong. Our economy is 27x that of Russia, and still bigger than that cancer China is. Our military fights on 2 fronts, and politics on the environment, health care, entitlements, relations with regions and countries, trade in all its forms, science, medicine, social programs, internal military affairs, civil rights, etc.
The USA is in some danger of breaking up, losing the UNITED part. Oh, we would call it something else as we become confederated, but we are not as cohesive as the last generation. What issues would divide? Count them, be it abortion, immigration, religion -- for there are many, but the grease to move to division would be the economy (failure of the dollar) and the spark would be a dynamic individual. Make no mistake about it, if we divide, we will not long after war with one another. Lincoln & 600K fallen men would roll

But in a world increasingly secular, one with varying ethical mindsets which will vary according to conditions, it is conceivable that another Hitler could arise and deem genocide a good thing. There are genocides not only of races, but conditions. The weak minded, mentally ill, disabled, chronically ill, could all be deemed unworthy of living, and we see it already in abortion, which is bounded by status of age, but infanticide has a case ethically, as does termination of life or liberties in other classes or states of people.
I believe in the past, now and always there is a need to resist the use of force, especially deadly force to enforce one's will.
Mao thought the loss of a city or two in a nuclear exchange was acceptable depending on the outcome. He had the power, the will. Our leaders have for 50+ years been prepared for Mutually Assured Distruction (MAD).
We must avoid as well as seek.

People have to work to live together, from husband & wife, siblings, neighbors, communities, towns, cities, regions, states, country, and nations. Saying those in a row points out how every thing related to one another, from within the person, to those around us, and to the world, and it comes back the other way. We are all interrelated. I don't want the suicide/homocidal bomber to die any more than his victims. I want peace. I'm old enough to appreciate the term "peace & quiet."
When in desperation we think, NUKE 'EM! Stop and think of the babies, the little big eyed children that would perish.

I liken our Government (not just Potus and the Feds) but Fed and State to basically be a bunch of Neros.

Seems to me I've read that somewhere.
"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Matthew 6:34-KJV
;o)
God bless.

Follow the pages of history and you will find that man has one great talent. That of self destruction and the destruction of our neighbors....
Not that I have lost faith in us as a species, it's just that so many of us are concerned for what will be an inevitable conclusion for us all....
When ready, nature will find a way to wipe us all from the planet like a dog sheds a flea. "Nature, Mother Earth, or God"...which ever you prefer....
In the meantime, we toil and trouble worried about what the next day will bring. Pain, sorrow, joy or even death.....the next day WILL find us....all of us....
It was my mentor who once said..."Don't worry about what tomorrow will bring....for there is enough trouble in today"...
DJ, I truly respect the words that you write, and one could easily argue a nuke would be a good gift to lob over the fence at Iran
