am i prescient or what ?

This morning I did the blog that was based on the Brazilian power outage of last night... http://www.wral.com/golo/blogpost/6395646/ ...and then this afternoon about 1:45 p.m my own electricity went out. I'd just sat back in the recliner with a copy of the Tenth Kingdom (it was recommended to me yesterday and I've yet to see it) in the DVD player (No, I'll stay with that medium instead of rushing out to get the highly acclaimed Blu-Ray) when the power went out.
Turns out there was a bad accident out on Lee Avenue south of Sanford. For the next 45 minutes to an hour there were distant echoes of sirens and approaching fire trucks and LEO cars, I could glimpse the far off flickers of blue and red emergency lights through the nearly bare trees of the woodlot, the ominous sounds of either chainsaws or extrication devices wailed through the afternoon...The lights came back on about 2:30 but I've yet to drive out to see the aftermath.
Years ago I'd be there about as soon as I realized there'd been a wreck. Nowadays I just don't care to come up on something like that. To be in a rush to see the sufferings of others just ain't my bag. I simply don't go out of way to see stuff like that anymore. It causes me pain to see others in pain, and I see enough of that without going about looking for it.

To date, the best comment that I’ve heard – from the folks at the generating plant – was something like, “Is there an outage? Everything is OK here....”

(And my granny use to say, "Girl (or pal), your physic" - which for those who don't know, is something they use to give folks when they got constipated so it was her nice way of saying "You're full of _ _ it." instead of saying "you're psychic." ;o)
