...and meets the Teacher, Teacher's Aid, and Children that adopted Him last year while serving in Iraq.
Because of a conflict in the scheduling and it suppose to be a surprise meeting for Mrs. Oliver there had to be two meetings. Sgt Moore met with Mrs. Oliver and Ms Worthum on Thursday November 5th during a break in her Parent/Teacher Conferences. We had stopped by her room for a quick Hello when we found out she would not be there on Friday November 6th due to a Class Trip. I asked if she had any time free that day and she did...Sgt Moore met with her personally at the free time she did have and made her very happy she would not miss the chance to meet Him. He got to share some pictures and other items from Iraq...presented her with a Thank You Gift. They also talked about the Unit that replaced His and will get together to possibly Adopted them this year.
November 6th Sgt Moore got to meet the Children from Mrs. Oliver's Kindergarten Class last year.
First He was Greeted and Welcomed by the Principle Mrs. Garrison and Assistant Principal Ms. Green. He was walked down to where the special meeting would take place. The Children all came in the room and Mrs. Garrison introduced Sgt Moore. They were all excited to meet Him. He shared photos from Iraq which included the Unit in which they had sent packages to, shared a bit of the History of Iraq and why all the dessert, what they did to help Iraq, what the children of Iraq enjoyed, and more. Then showed them the special Coins they were given for certain duties. The pogs which the Soldiers get as part of their money to spend. And also shared some of the money from Iraq. Seeing such high numbers on the bills one child says...your rich....not realizing 25000 is so little in American money. He passed around the coins so each of the Children could touch and see them. Then he presented them with a special gift that read...Thank You For Your Kindness Sgt Gene Moore.
Sgt Moore also works for the New Jersey School System. He was very impressed by the Classrooms looking more like a living room in a home...very comfortable atmosphere with the lighting, bright welcoming colors, etc.

My personal experience out of all of this...no wonder why our Soldiers get depressed. Could you imagine only seeing the colors of sand and blue sky day after day...seems like all the pictures only those two colors. Gene said when he got home in Newark to be able to actually smell trees, flowers, rain, etc was just amazing. Things we take for granted. It is so sad that a "Ruler" had cut off people from water and farms disappeared...Thanks to our Soldiers they are starting to get water and replant. Thanks to our Soldiers the people are getting electric again.
God Bless Our Soldiers Past and Present!!! Keep Them Safe!!!
Even if you are against the War...Support our Troops!!!

Yes I think what Mrs Oliver did with this Class is really GREAT!!! And to make Gene real to them. They made a bunch of Christmas Decorations and such last year, cards, and really brightened the Units day...they placed them all over their "living quarters"...all the boxes sent when in the kitchen area for all to share.
