cam ward gets cut by skate

RALEIGH, NC — Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward will remain in an Ohio hospital for another night.
Ward suffered a laceration of the left upper leg from the skate of Columbus forward Rick Nash, as Nash passed through the crease during the first period of Carolina’s 3-2 loss to the Blue Jackets on Saturday night. He was originally expected to return to Raleigh on Sunday, but will remain in Columbus at Riverside Methodist Hospital through tonight to guard against infection.
Ward is expected to return to Raleigh on Monday, where he will be evaluated further by Hurricanes Head Orthopedic Physician Dr. Marty Isbell. The goaltender is expected to miss a minimum of three to four weeks of action.
"We'll have to see how it goes," general manager Jim Rutherford told the Canadian sports network TSN. "It appears it will be a fairly long period of time."
Rutherford says the Hurricanes may call up goaltender Justin Peters from Albany, or look for another netminder through a trade.

~Ouch! That must of stung having the thigh sliced like a hacksaw to a chunk of meat. And a skate blade does have some width to it, along with some serrated edges in front...

Everytime Leighton's been in the net that I've withnessed, (what little Maurice has allowed), the team has played so poorly, that everything fell to him...
And as we are currently seeing, the TEAM is important the goalie can't do it alone. Cam has no team helping him right now, making him look like he sucks when he doesn't.

A friend of mine got cut on the inside of her thigh by an ice skate when we were kids.
It was real bad and ended up leaving a forever-scar.
