Hey gang...well, a lot of you know about my lab who has cancer. The last couple of weeks he has been doing worse...moaning when he moves, not being as active...but he still eats and gets excited about food and goodies. He used to make these "moaning" noises when he moved, but he was heavy then...now I think it's the cancer. I'm going to call the vet in the morning and see if I should take him in to have the vet check him out and see what his opinion is. I've cried over this the last two nights...but I know I have to do what's best for my friend. I may find out that the moaning is from arthritis or something and maybe can give him something for it...but if it's the tumor, I know his time is short. It seems that no matter how inevitable we know something like this is, it always hurts when the "reality" of it smacks you in the face. Please keep me and him in your prayers...I don't want him to hurt, and like I said, I could be wrong on this and he may have some more good time...but IF it is that time...I'm going to need all the strength I can get...11 years is a long time to have a good friend. Thank you all.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I had a dogthat I had to have put to sleep. I watched her suffer for a few weeks til i finally realized it was selfish of me making the dog suffer just because I didn't want to let her go. She will always be remembered as my favorite dog I have ever had but now she ain't suffering no more. I know how you feel and it is a very hard decision to make but you do what you think is right. God Bless You.

So hold me now just one more time and let me hear you say, because you care so much for me, you'll let me go today Susan A. Jackson

So very sorry for your loss. I had to put down my best cat friend this summer. I kept this poem with me the whole time. May you find some comfort in it too.

May I go now? Do you think the time is right? May I say goodbye to pain filled days and endless lonely nights? I've lived my life and done my best, an example tried to be. So can I take that step beyond and set my spirit free?

I didn't want to go at first, I fought with all my might. But something seems to draw me now to a warm and loving light. I want to go I really do. It's difficult to stay.

But I will try as best I can to live just one more day. To give you time to care for me and share your love and fears. I know you're sad and afraid, because I see your tears.

I'll not be far, I promise that, and hope you'll always know that my spirit will be close to you wherever you may go. Thank you so for loving me. You know I love you too, that's why it's hard to say goodbye and end this life with you.

I'm so sorry. I know how horrible making that choice is. I've lost 2 kitties to cancer and 1 kitty to stroke. My heart goes out to you.

Praying for you both.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. My 5 year old golden retriever died in April due to her lymphoma returning. She fought so hard to beat it but it was time to ease her pain. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. She's lived every day since in my heart. That's where she will always be.

So sorry to hear this. It is a hard thing to see your friend suffer. My family has been through this with several of our dogs over the years (yes, it was cancer in all of them. We didn't realize that the boards we had in the kennels was causing it until too late). It isn't easy, but know that your friend is depending on you to make the decision that is best. You will all be in my thouths and prayers.

Sorry for any typos, but I'm crying hard enough now I can barely see my screen...why do I put myself through this time after time when I say "no more" and I never stick to it :p

you do it because dogs need you. was there three years ago when I had to put my 12 year old collie down. was at the game when the Canes won the cup and three days later I had to say good bye. had to get my other collie another or he wouldn't have survived. it is hard and allow yourself time to grieve

I am so sorry to hear this, I know how hard it is when its time to face losing your babies. I hope you get good news from the vet, but if you don't, I am here for you. You give that baby a kiss for me, and please keep us posted.

I am so sorry, so very sorry. I had a boxer who had lymphnotic cancer. She was so sweet. She was treated by NC Vet Hospital and one of the Drs in Nashville treated her for free (because he'd never treated a dog with this before). She went into remission for about 8 months, and just weeks before my wedding, the cancer was back with a vengence. The last time I saw her, she was lying in her beloved backyard with her head resting on her water bowl. She would drink till she was so tired, she lay her head on the bowl and rest, and then she'd start to fall into the bowl, so she'd start drinking again.

My mom had to take her to the vet. I couldn't do it. Mom never got over it and went thru the change of life (at same time I left so empty nest)..... Lady was a sweetheart and I miss her still.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
