For those who may have seen Sandra-Carrington-Smith's "Blog for Hope" posted yesterday on my behalf, I wish to provide an update to what was most certainly a blog met with the highest measures of humility.

Knowing well it was a blog about two cats and a house....first let me say that is was the cats that were of the highest priority. I have more than made my position clear on the house.....who ever wants it can have it.....likely that will be the bank....but regardless....I don't much care now.....

My caring for these cats though has weighed heavily as my impending "homelessness" lurks only months away.

But I digress, this after all is not supposed to be about me....

"Bemis" I am happy to report has found refuge in the most obvious of places and one that I had not given any thought to before the offer was made....

I have a dear uncle....who from birth has dealt with the circumstance of a tragic beginning. In his sixties, and with the innocence of a child, "Bemis" will now be his companion as he spends his days enjoying his favorite television show or reading, or listening to one of his many country and western CD's. I could not have imagined recieving a call from my dear mother, my uncles caretaker, with a willingness to bring little "Bemis" into their home. But within the last few hours, she and I have enjoyed a BLT together, spoke of impending issues, and settled little "Bemis" in for his trip to Charlotte and what will certainly be a better life.

"Crystal" who herself was a rescue, who has been with me now for a little over a year has also found refuge in a place where she will be loved and cared for. Not to mention she will have a playmate, and one equal in stature and not likely to spend all day chasing her tail or squashing her like a bug as "Grinder's" affectionate hugs always did. Within hours, her new guardian will arrive to take "Crystal" to her new digs. 

Indeed this could not have been accomplished without (1) GOLO (2) BLOG for HOPE (3) Sandra-Carrington-Smith (4) the many Goloers who saw and reacted to the post and (5) and certainly not the least....Debbie aka "Dragon-Lady" for being the one to react in such quick response and with a commitment I feel beyond measure to be in the best interest of sweet "Crystal".....

So in closing, for all the critics, for all the name calling, for all the opinions that flare and inflame, that hurt, and that attack, lets not forget that we as a community represent every community across this nation. What we see and do here is as much a reflection of us as a nation as anything seen in the papers, on the TV or even on the internet....

I have to believe that good will always prevail regardless of the pitfalls that exist for choosing that side....

Those who pick the other side....although they seem to win a good deal of the time, I pray they will only end up where they truly belong.....

And those who choose good, may you continue to feel the blessings of what life has to offer admist the hardships that may parallel the journey....
