future of collider sabatoging the past?
Published Nov. 7, 2009Views: 243
Check out this report. "Large Hadron Collider Halted by Bird Crumbs"

"But the difficulties faced by those working on the project have prompted some members of the scientific community to speculate, in all seriousness, that the machine is sabotaging itself — from the future.
The theory is that the particle that physicists hope to produce might be "abhorrent to nature," so that once created it would work backwards through time to put a stop to whatever created it."
Do you believe in fate or is it just coincidence"
(Yes, it's from FOX news but it's still interesting)

You know, the thing about temporal anomalies is that they are anomalous ....

Judging by most of your posts, you've succeeded.

What is with Goloers hating scientists? Seriously, I know they have been vilified in the science fiction of yore, but there is a lot of animosity toward scientists around here (yeah yeah, I am taking it personally :p)
The chance of the collider causing the doomsday is so infinitesimally small, if not impossible, that no one in their right mind would impede progress by taking concern.
People have always been scared of science and scared of the unknown and their fears nearly always arise out of a lack of understanding.

I'm not a scientist, but the idea that this thing could produce enough power to destroy the world seems a bit silly to me. Could it produce a black hole? I don't know (I doubt it)- but even if it did the thing would be tiny because a super collidor just doesn't produce that kind of energy.

Well Faux News is abhorrent to nature, and its still around...

That defense is not based on sound logic. Scientists should argue the points made logically, and accepting their limitations to do so. I prefer honesty and logic and to forget the hype and dismissive use of ridicule.
