What do you think she wants you to do?
If she says, "Will you take the trash out?" What do you hear?
If she says, "Take the trash out right now" What do you hear? Will you do it?
What's the best way for her to get the point across to you?

Oh, I dunno'. Would it be kinda the same as getting her to understand how important it is to change the oil in her car (in less that 25 thousand miles)? OH, wait, that's man work, right?

Well, the wife came home a while ago and it does appear I was supposed to take out the trash. I think it went something like this:
"What the hell is this trash still doing here?"
Or words to that effect.

I would be thinking she wants me to know she has tied up the trash next to the door.
I would hear, "Will you take the trash out?" I would answer either Yes, No or WHy don't you go ahead and carry it out. Since You tied it up next to the door.
I would hear, "Take the trash out right now" I would either take it out as ordered, balk and pretend I didn't hear, refuse and tell her to take it out herself since she tied it up next to the door.
The best way to get the trash that is tied up by the door taken out would be to simply ask. If it's a demand, be prepared for a refusal. If it's a request, more than likely I will take the trash out. I have heard that "wives, girlfriends, female roomates, sexless lovers" that go ahead and take the trash out themselves wearing nothing but a smile and a pricy perfume, probably wont havbe to do it twice.

"Will you take the trash out?" is perfeclty fine. The first statement was "I tied the trash bag up and it's by the door." That's more of an expectation than a request.
