Ok. Most of us are well informed about drinking alcohol, taking medications, etc., and what it can do for your driving.
Here's some more info: For many years I wore glasses but managed to pass my eye examination and was not restricted to wearing glasses. Then, the day came, the vision changed, and now I've been told that if I drive without corrective lenses, it is the same as driving while impaired. This means ticket, points on my driving license, points on my insurance et al. I'm going to take this a step further:
Yesterday on the way home, I was behind a woman in a Volkswagen bug (the newer ones), and she was steadily yacking on her cell phone whilst she had a long line of vehicles in front of her, beside her, and behind her as we were all trying to enter I40 on the entrance ramp. This was happening all the while with traffic in both lanes of I40.
She never seemed to acknowledge anything at all was going on, and was oblivious to the traffic around her and all the horns blowing!
It came her turn to enter into the flow of traffic. She never turned on her signal lights, never gained speed, but kept yacking on the cell phone. I managed to just get past her when I heard the screeching of tires behind me.
She'd caused a tractor-trailor driver to lock down their brakes because of her stupidity. She's lucky the other driver didn't run all over her.
I know there are hands free devices and all kinds of goodies for the cell phones. But, why don't people just put those stupid things down and drive?
This is DUI/DWI, and not only are they endangering their own lives, but they are endangering other people's lives.
I'm willing to vote to have cell phone usage while driving outlawed. Any one else of the same thinking?
What do you think? Someone has already been killed or maimed by these things. What is it going to take to reverse the toll?
Ok. I'm off the soap box. Your turn.

No, she meant what she wrote, read all of it: "now I've been told that if I drive without corrective lenses, it is the same as driving while impaired. This means ticket, points on my driving license, points on my insurance et al."

What about those people eating while driving? Drinking a soda? Listening to the radio/CD, changing sources? Driving with a baby in the car? Driving with your dog in the car. Driving with your lover snuggled up close, holding hands? ...while singing and moving about? There are many distractions to driving beside the cell phone.
What to do? Take the number and call the highway patrol and report the time, place, offense -- and nothing will happen.
