going rate for babysitting
Published Nov. 4, 2009Views: 613
Looking for some advice.
Our office intern has been asked to babysit for a family from our department. The family has two boys ages 5 & 7 and one daughter age 3. They need a babysitter for Friday evening and all day on Saturday and Sunday.
No one involved has any idea of a going pay rate is and both parties (family and intern) are looking for suggestions.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Guess I should have included more information.
Our intern would be staying overnight. The parents are spending the weekend at a time share for a 40th birthday. Parents fly out early Friday afternoon and return late on Sunday evening.

The intern is from my office. Person looking for a babysitter works within the department but is from a different office, heck they are even in a different building but has used our intern for a normal babysitting job in the past.
There isn't an "expectation" involved. She could use the extra money and likes the family.

We usually have free or inexpensive baby sitters. Grandma can't always keep up with them physically, but the baby sitter can call her for decisions.

Well, leave it to me to ask one of "those" questions.
Is it appropriate to ask/expect the office intern to do this non-work-related job?

BUT: she's only 16, hasn't established her "business" yet and hasn't done any overnights. She also doesn't have her DL yet.
