You know as well as I do that the answers to a polling question depend entirely on how the question is phrased. Look around you, at the world as it is, and then try to tell me that Conservatives are winning that war. Talk about your rose colored glasses ...

On the possibility of a schism, I'd have to agree with you. That said, I don't think social conservatives are going to win that particular battle.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you look at those gallup polls, the numbers are increasing. Conservatives are WINNING the cultre war.
Or do you mean "winning" like last night was a "win" for Obama?

I think the GOP is in grave danger of splitting - with conservatives striking out to forma 3rd party. Hoffman gives them a reason to work within the party to regain control.

They do, according to your numbers. You realistically have no alternative BUT the Republicans (except maybe not to vote, but that would be stupid on your part.) They can therefore pretty much count on your vote.
Mine, and those of the other 40% in the middle, they have to win by convincing us they're a better alternative. Driving to the right does not make that argument very well, again as demonstrated by the huge DROP in support for conservatism in the NY 23rd. If you want to paint your party into an ideological corner, by all means do so. We'll be happy to take the wins.

LOl, really ... Do you think the Republican Party will be running a rabid far righter or a moderate against Owens in 2010? McHugh posted almost 61% of the vote in 2009. Hoffman posted 49% yesterday. Your conservative policies effectively cost the Republicans 12% of their showing.
So, again, you tell me. Is it because the district suddenly became Dem, or because your preferred message didn't resonate?

Um, duh - because the GOP keeps running squishy RINOs who think they need YOUR vote more than they need MINE.

"With some U.S. lawmakers and immigration rights activists stepping up calls for the Obama administration to pursue immigration reform, Gallup finds Americans less favorable toward immigration than they were a year ago. Half (50%) say immigration should be decreased, up from 39% last year."
