Some of you may have figured this out by now--I am a big geek. I love science fiction and have been known to read fantasy novels. One of my favorite series is by George RR Martin. (though he needs to finish writing A Dance with Dragons already!!!)
About a year ago, I heard a rumor that HBO was looking to make a series based on the series and I have been stalking it to see where it was going. I didn't want to get too excited as these things have a way of not happening. And sometimes even if they do get made, the books get masscred by the screenwriters. It looks like GRRM is very active in this so I'm very hopeful that the story will stay true.
It looks like the pilot is going as scheduled! They just cast the last speaking role and what a role it was. For anyone that has read the books, they cast Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo. Of the many characters in this series Khal and Daenerys ranked really high on my favorites.
What is most exciting about it all is that I have a huge fangirl crush on Jason Momoa. I watched every single episode of Stargate Atlantis and drooled over him. So to have him play Khal is making me all giddy. BUT it gets even better, I was digging around on the net and he said at a comic convention that this will be his first nude scene. Someone will need to sit next to me when that airs to fan me and hand me the smelling salts as I am sure to get the vapors over it all.

I try not to go to the author's website because when I do I notice that he's running around the country doing Cons etc when he should be sitting at home writing that stupid book. LOL. It makes me feel like maybe the chick from Misery was onto something. ;)

It's why I didn't pick up book three and am waiting until he's done before starting to read them again. I loved A Game of Thrones and thought it was one of the most original fantasy novels I'd read in a long time (not counting Lawrence Watt-Evans's Dragon Weather), so it'll be good to read the rest when they're finally all out.

And yes, Kitkat, I agree. I cannot wait to see him as Khal Drogo, but in the meantime I might start watching SGA again. :D
