soldier to honor generous north carolina students
Published Oct. 21, 2009Views: 224
On November 6th Sgt Gene Moore will be coming to North Carolina. One planned stop is to visit a special Classroom that adopted Him last year while serving in Iraq.
Mrs. Oliver put up a Christmas Tree for A Soldier and each Student took an Ornament from the Tree and bought that item. As each item was selected Mrs. Oliver would put more Ornaments on the Tree and the Children would grab others. It was not a required project...but totally voluntary.
They sent boxes of goodies in which Sgt Moore shared with all in his Company. The Children also made Cards and Decorations in which the Soldiers placed around their Barracks and in Kitchen area from the Children. It made for a special Christmas for these Soldiers who were so far away from Family and Friends...knowing that Children were thinking of them and remembering what they were there for.
Here is my BLOG from last year when the Class did this Project...

Sgt Moore will be presenting each of the Students and the Teacher with a special gift. He will also share with them some items from Iraq and experiences.
The Children do not know he is coming as it is a surprise!!!
I would like to Thank A Special Retired Air Force Soldier and Veteran who helped arrange the Special Gift...Mr Robert. Take a look at his site and remember if you are ever in need of something personal...fast Friendly is a lacking of words with this Gentleman.

Another worthwhile Organization worth mentioning mainly because what they do is not only put a smile on a Soldiers face but their Children(s)

Help us send dog tags to troops in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan so they can send them to their kids back home!
This is a grassroots effort to show our support for the troops and their families. We tried to think of something we could send Dad or Mom that they could easily send back to their kids. This is something easy to ship and something the kids can hang on to until Dad or Mom gets back home.
Your donation will help send a tag in the appropriate service color to an appreciative service member. There is NO charge to the service member or their family for these tags. As of October 8th, 2009, we have sent 488,203 tags to the troops overseas to send home to their children. Please help us make a difference and thank our troops by putting a smile on their kid's faces!
