even though some of you guys don't think i merit this...

...because of some brain to fingers verbal/emotional translation problems in my last post,
I got engaged this weekend!!! He wants to get married around may or june, but understands it may take us longer to get everything together and planned, so the date is kind of flexible at this point...but it won't be a long engagement.
As to my verbal issues from last post, I can explain the 'belong to someone' part of that post...which had a lot of you rolling your eyes and pegging me as pathetic [which I sometimes am].
A couple of things: I had about two minutes to create that entire post because we were running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to get everything done that morning that we'd had scheduled.
I am also not very good expressing my emotions on the fly. I typically pause to gather my thoughts before I speak and, usually, during conversation.
That said, the 'belong to someone' part of that was kind of irking...because I have always been a pretty independant person.
What I was feeling at the time was a great sense of love and happiness, and it came out wrong. I love him and I love everything about our life together...so for him to be willing to commit to me at this level, forever, [as man and wife, not just living together with an understanding] finally hit me.
And yes, I feel like we *could* live life together without being married, and for a long time I was totally against marriage for myself because I didn't think that I would be able to trust anyone enough to mary them, but...I would feel a whole lot better calling him my husband instead of my boyfriend.
I also don't understad the need for people to be incredibly negative about something exciting for someone else. Have you ever head of the saying 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?'
I do want to thank those of you who were supportive and friendly...there is a sad shortage of that kind of behavior around here.
