the best kept secret at the north carolina state fair!
Published October 20, 2009Views: 924
We have all experienced the North Carolina State Fair (I hope -- if you haven't, then you should go!)
What's the best kept secret at the fair?
- Any quiet location where you escape from all the screams on the midway?
- Any hole-in-the-wall concession stands that serve the world's best food?
- Any secret parking tips? (ok, ok -- if you share THAT, it wouldn't be a secret anymore...)
- Any competitions that are simple and easy enough for anybody to win the blue ribbon?
- What do you think is the best kept secret at the NC State Fair?

I'll bet the pig races would be a nice little relaxer. I've never done it before. That's under a tent on the Trinity Rd side of the fair right? You do get to eat the winner right???
We like to ride the scariest ride at the fair.
Wait for it......
The DOT weight scales!!!
Got on it one year and it prompted me to lose 30 lbs. My buddy that goes with us got himself a gym membership and started working out once he saw his weight.
Do however stay away from the Hot Wisconsin Cheese booth. Sure the Ementhaler in rye corndog breader looks good, but you better have alot of mouths to fill. I got it one year and even with my friends help I still ate more than I should have and felt awful the rest of the day.

GravyPig, I started my previous post with "Two words", too, BEFORE I saw your post.
Great minds think alike, I guess!

You sit there, take a break, and get a good laugh at those pigs running around the track. It's truly one of the simple pleasures of the State Fair! They race other animals, too.

Probably the healthiest fried food at the fair. They take apples, core them, put them through a fry cutter, batter them and fry them. Dust with cinnamon/sugar and enjoy :P

Oh, and parking, you are right, park at carter finely and walk a little further and it is free and no hassle to get out...
