10's of millions of computers loaded with fake security software
Published Oct. 19, 2009Views: 552
A popular security software company has revealed that tens of millions of computers have been downloaded with scam security company softwares, making the products the exact opposite of what they are claimed to be. Instead of protecting one's computer, the scam artists collects your vital personal information, including your credit card number(s), and presto > another victim of idenity thef is the verdict.
I strongly recommend anyone who has purchased an off-brand security software to read this story found on Yahoo.com.
You may also use the Google image search and see some of the fake webpages and pop-ups that are luring people into their trap. Careful though, don't be clicking past the images.

Any software that you didn't download yourself that tells you that you have a virus, probably is a virus itself.

LOL is that what it is. I wasn't aware I was paying for anything, My son fixes my up my computer as I am computer illiterate and I've never paid for it. I got something called symantec antivirus and when I click it, it says it's on and I run somthing called virus scans fwhichn comes out ok. Seems to be checking out the files as it takes almost 20 minutes to complete.. He's coming up this weekend and I'll check with him. Maybe that is what it is.
