children and sex offenders

Ok, so I just read the article on WRAL about the caretaker & her fiancee (a registered sex offender) being charged in the death of a 4-year old. (Link to Article)
I will NEVER understand how this happens. I am certain the parents never thought this man was capable of murdering their child, BUT they had to wonder if he wouldn't do something else, right??
I am very sorry, but I don't care WHO you are to ME; friend, family, father or foe, if you are a convicted sex offender that was convicted of some crime against a child, you will NOT be in the presence of MY child if I can help it. I realize that I probably walk by 50 sex offenders every time I go to WalMart, but I'll say this - I'll dare any one of them to attempt to touch my child; and they most certainly will NOT be left to tend to my child.
This is, of course, my unadulterated opinion, and you all are entitled to your own on the subject. My opinion is NOT up for debate, however, I am interested to see how others feel about the subject. Feel free to comment about YOUR OWN opinion, but please do not bash others for theirs.

No you won't. The publicity of those cases that do arise just m,akes it look that way. Also most sex offendors are not Pedophiles so they wouldn't be interested in your kid anyway.
One has to take basic steps to protect your children but one shouldn't be paranoid either.

I agree with this statement but, would add - why ANY woman, young or old, attractive or not, would want to be in a relationship with ANY man that would just as soon be doing unspeakable things to a child is beyond me!

I usually would not give an Amen on shooting someone..but in this case I will make an exception! Anyone who would hurt a child is useless to this society and has no place on this earth
