earth and moon, as seen from mars
Published October 15, 2009Views: 483
This is an image of Earth and the Moon, as seen from Mars. It was acquired at 5:20 a.m. October 3rd, 2007, at a range of 142 million kilometer using the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera on board the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. HiRISE consists of a 0.5 meter reflecting telescope, the largest of any deep space mission, which allows it to take pictures with resolutions up to 0.3 m, resolving objects about a meter across, or the size of a beachball.
The HiRISE instrument would make a great backyard telescope for viewing Mars, and we can also use it at Mars to view other planets, such as Jupiter.
On the day this image was taken, the Japanese Kayuga (Selene) spacecraft was en route from the Earth to the Moon, and has since returned spectacular images and movies of the lunar surface.

What if you were looking from the surface of Mars. How would that planet's rotation affect how we would see the earth?
Is this something you would ask of an astronomer or an astrophysicist? You can tell I'm not much of a scientist.

Sounds like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The best part of which was Oolon Culoophid.
"Is that Mars local time or Earth local time?"
MST - Mountain Standard Time, according to the link.
