how many

Matthew 18: 21 tells us that Peter came to Jesus and asked how often he should forgive someone and that Jesus told him "70X7"
I have to wonder does that work for apologies as well. Do we have to apologize for the same wrongs "70X7" times? Or does one sincere apology do the trick?
When someone has wronged you (I'm not talking raped your dog and killed your wife now but offended you in some way), how many times do you expect them to apologize in order for you to let it go? Keeping in mind that we are assuming the person is sincere in their apology and not just mouthing words with no meaning.
I'm usually quick with an apology when I'm wrong (yes, I'm wrong quite often) and I'm usually sincere, although I can offer an apology under duress and make it sound sincere. My Granny did teach me that one as well. And, while giving an apology is not comfortable, it's not all that difficult for me to do.
However, I am uncomfortable being on the receiving end. So, when someone has offended me, wronged me, whatever, I much prefer ONE (singular) sincere "I'm sorry" and let it go. I don't want someone hounding me day in and day out with apologies. Let it go already. I have. I don't tend to carry around grudges. They get heavy after awhile.
Even when someone has offended me and hasn't apologized, I pretty much move on in a fairly short amount of time. It takes too much energy to do otherwise.
But back to the blog topic. How many times should someone apolgize? (keeping in mind it is sincere). Once, twice, three times, 100, 240, daily, hourly, by the minute? What?

And if the person has forgiven, then the one doing the apologizing also needs to let it go.

Still, one should do the best they can do with the gray matter available between their ears.
God bless.
