You won't find this information on ABC, CBS, CNN, or NBC.  Most of the information below was taken from direct quotes included in books and official papers Sunstein authored.  And those documents weren't written 20 years ago.  At least one book was published this year and none of the documents were published more than 6 years ago.  His views are current.

His views on socialism/communisim:

"The absence of a European-style social welfare state is certainly connected with the widespread perception among the white majority that the relevant programs would disproportionately benefit African Americans (and more recently Hispanics)," wrote Sunstein.

The Obama czar's controversial comments were made in his 2004 book "The Second Bill of Rights," which was obtained and reviewed by WND.

In the book, Sunstein openly argues for bringing socialism to the U.S. and even lends support to communism.

"During the Cold War, the debate about [social welfare] guarantees took the form of pervasive disagreement between the United States and its communist adversaries. Americans emphasized the importance of civil and political liberties, above all free speech and freedom of religion, while communist nations stressed the right to a job, health care, and a social minimum."

His views on redistribution of wealth:

WND first reported Sunstein penned a 2007 University of Chicago Law School paper in which he debated whether America should pay "justice" to the world by entering into a compensation agreement that would be a net financial loss for the U.S. He argues it is "desirable" to redistribute America's wealth to poorer nations.

A prominent theme throughout Sunstein's 39-page paper, entitled "Climate Change Justice" and reviewed by WND, maintains U.S. wealth should be redistributed to poorer nations. He uses terms such as "distributive justice" several times. The paper was written with fellow attorney Eric A. Posner.

"It is even possible that desirable redistribution is more likely to occur through climate change policy than otherwise, or to be accomplished more effectively through climate policy than through direct foreign aid," wrote Sunstein.

His views on free speech:

The Regulatory Czar's latest book is entitled Rumors. It purports to be about how rumors spread.  The subtitle of the book is "How Falsehoods Spread, Why We Believe Them, What Can Be Done."  So, according to Sunstein, What Can Be Done about false rumors? Well, here's the ramp-up to his solution:


"These points should not be taken as a plea for any kind of censorship...Sometimes a chilling effect can be an excellent safeguard...We need, in short, to find ways to discourage the harmful effects of false rumors." (pp. 10-11)


Of course, creating a "chilling effect" isn't censorship.


On page 78 of the 88-pages book -- more accurately, a monograph -- the action steps that would accompany Sunstein's meta-message emerge.


"Any marketplace requires standards and ground rules; no market can operate as a free-for-all.  It is not obvious that the current regulatory system for free speech -- the current setting of chill -- is the one that we would or should choose for the Internet era." (p. 78)


And what might those "standards and ground rules" for the Internet era include?


"[A] general right to demand retraction after a clear demonstration that a statement is both false and damaging. If a newspaper of broadcaster or blogger refuses to provide a prominent retraction after a reasonable period of time, it might be liable for at least modest damages."


"On the Internet in particular, people might have a right to ‘notice and take down.' [T]hose who run websites would be obliged to take down falsehoods upon notice."


"Damage caps and schedules could do a great deal to promote free speech values while also ensuring a measure of deterrence...A cap on damages, alongside liability to establish what is actually true, could work to leverage the propagator's concern for his reputation to good effect." (pp. 78-79)

I think Obama's choice of Sunstein along with some of the other Marxist/Socialist/Communist leaning czars leaves little doubt about the direction he's taking this country.  And despite state-sponsored mainstream media promoting his agenda, he still has a problem with that pesky little Internet thing Al Gore invented.  I believe Sunstein's job is to address that issue and remove/silence one of the few remaining obstacles interfering with Dear Leader's plans.  Now that is chilling.
