I'm hoping some of you can help me. I don't have cable or an HD TV. I am using the converter box along with a little Phillips HD antenna outside. We get some channels but a few of them are choppy. There's only like 2 or 3 really good channels we get. Is there anything else that I could get to get better reception and possibly more channels? I know the easiest and best way is to just get cable or satellite but they are just to expensive right now for our budget so we are making do with this converter box/antenna

You should at least have as good a picture as in the past, and more channels.

I sometimes wonder if Digital TV isn't just a scam to get people to get cable or satellite tv.

Before it was GREAT for a pilot weather service and up to the minute weather. I'd flip it on for a wx briefing and be up to date in 15 minutes for the up coming week. You didn't need cable, just an antenna and half a brain to understand their complicated vocabulary, but it became easy to understand.
