From what I have been reading, I must say that my time here on GOLO has run its course. If we are going to criticize the President for wanting to speak to children, then I am gone. We are not allowed to show it as it airs, but it will be implemented in some way later. But folks, i know my opinion aint worth much ( i just teach the furure of this earth) but good gracious the dislike over my leader saddens me. And this forum does nothing but make me wistful for long ago, more patriotic days. I'm out. Peep me on facebook, i reckon.

"I'm sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we're Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration." - HIllary Clinton, notable "patriot"
I guess times change . . .

There is NO way Obama is going to politicize this speech. If teachers are professional, they will not either.
Too bad so many don't trust the President to be non-political. May be the timing, but the timing is right for the kids since the school year is just starting.

My children brought home permission slips on whether we would allow our children to see the speech. I decided that if my children were going to see the speech, it would be with my husband and myself so that we can address any concerns as a family.
I personally feel this is a pure political stunt. Why? Because the children that will mostly be hearing it are the ones who aren't going to listen to it, but "hear what they want". When a fuss is made (as one is) the president and his lackies, will use it to their advantage against the "racist right"... a phrase I heard earlier today over this.-- JMO
