Ok, most of you know, I suck at writing. I have a hard time getting my point across in a few words. Everyone has something they suck at and explaining my views/ points in writing (or even in conversation) is something that's hard for me. With that said, I know how so many hate cut and paste, but I'm going to cut excerpts from an article I was reading that I think most everyone will find interesting.
YES It's fromt he Carolina Journal. YES they are conservative. So what. It doesn't make the information non-factual. And last I checked, it's beneficial to keep up with all points of view. If your only reading one, then, that's pretty narrow.

N.C. Members of Congress Shy Away from Town Halls
" A CNN poll released Wednesday found that 71 percent of adult Americans were very likely (41 percent) or somewhat likely (30 percent) to attend a “town hall meeting or some other public forum where voters got a chance to speak” on health-care reform hosted by a member of Congress in their communities. " (I knew I had heard a lot of people were talking about it, but I didn't know it was that high. I take most of these types of polls with a grain of salt, but 71 is still high. I find it appauling that the Dem & Repub Representatives blow off this many people with just "angry mob paid for by the GOP" commentary. I wonder how many of these are Democratic voters).
"......only one had scheduled any public forums in his district during the August recess: 10th District Republican Patrick McHenry, who over the next three weeks is planning a town hall meeting in each of the 10 counties he represents in the House" (That's seriously just sad that only 1 out of all the representatives both DEM and REP)
"....6th District Republican Howard Coble is set to do a live interview, including listener phone calls, this morning at 9:30 on WBAG-AM 1150 in Burlington)......"
"....8th District Democrat G.K. Butterfield ...tentatively slated a teleconference-style town hall for the first week in September. "
"...Among House Democrats, only 12th District Rep. Mel Watt had posted any events on his Web site. This week, Watt “traded places” in one-hour stints with workers at various job sites in the district; it’s the 13th straight year he’s staged “Trading Places” events. But there are no public forums on his schedule...."
"On Wednesday, 8th District Rep. Bob Etheridge released his schedule for the remainder of the week to members of the media. Between today and Saturday, he’ll speak to elected officials in Franklin County, the local Farm Bureau, the Lillington Rotary Club, and the Johnston County Democratic Men."
"Other Democrats were less forthcoming than Watt or Etheridge. They have no information about public events on their Web sites. Reps. David Price (4th District), Mike McIntyre (7th Distict), Larry Kissell (8th District), and Brad Miller (13th District) did not respond to telephone calls asking for their schedules during the recess." (That's pretty much been my experience with Senate reps too)
"Republicans weren’t models of transparency, either. Aside from McHenry, who’s hosting those 10 town halls, and Coble, who posts his schedule on the Web, Reps. Virginia Foxx (5th District), did not respond to a request for her schedule. Ninth District Rep. Sue Myrick was “still nailing down” her recess schedule, said Press Secretary Taylor Stanford. "
Munger said he’s not surprised that Republicans feel little obligation to “explain the Obama program … because it is not their program. … But the fact that the [Democratic] members are not willing to go out and explain the broad outline of the program, its philosophy and approach, does worry me,” Munger added. “Do the Democratic members realize that the Obama program is really a power grab, a radical move toward a much different society? … What else could explain their silence?” (I wish I had heard more from Mike Munger before the elections, I would have voted for him. But I absolutely love what he had to say. Pretty consise if you ask me!)

Afterall, it's what they are paid for.....to determine good legislation...
God forbid we actually have them do THAT much for their constituency.
I wonder what John Conyers (D-Mich) is doing this week...

But - I agree with the Munger comments. Sounds like he's got some measure of common sense at least. Not what I expect from a politician.

He had 3 townhalls last year, and after the people from Cary raked him over the coals, he left with his tail between his legs, never to be seen in a townhall meeting again. He KNOWS what he would face this year...
For those that refuse to meet with constituents, there WILL be townhalls, that WILL be recorded and sent to them and posted on the web. I'll post that info as soon as the venues are nailed down. It's no different than the Dem. who failed to show up at the last Tea party. They were invited, we had a table for them and they didn't show. People wrote on the sign (that said Dem. Party table) that they didn't show up because 1)ACORN wasn't paying anyone to man the table 2)They were too busy trying to keep track of Sarah Palin 3)They were too busy stealing our money 4) Too busy printing more money...there were a few others, but those, I found particularly amusing.
