Our family is visiting in October and we are looking for a house to rent near Cape Hatteras. I found this place on line and wondered if anyone knows anything about it or has another recommendation. Thanks!!!
The Tuckahoe Community is located on the northern Outer Banks of North Carolina in the town of Duck, it spans between the Atlantic Ocean on the east to the Currituck Sound on the west. The community has 83 home sites, many of which are shared with guests and vacationers each week. Within the community you will find a swimming pool, tennis court, beautiful ocean beaches and sound side water access.

dr. karl, if you are looking to actually go to Cape Hatteras, you are looking at a pretty severe drive. Couple of hours, maybe a little less. You might want to look for places in South Nags Head south of milepost 14. Best of luck - I hope you can get out there, October is a great time to go.

TimBuck II (a short drive north on 12) is a pretty happening spot. There used to be a bar called Neptunes that was fun, but I don't know if it is still there. Barrier Station is not far, you will probably pass it on the way in. They have a cool deck on the sound and normally have live music at night. You should definitely drive up to Corolla and check out the beaches - if you have 4 wheel drive you can find a pretty remote area and relax for a little while. If you are lucky, you may even spot some of the wild horses.
You would also be only a short drive from the main beaches - Kitty Hawk, KDH, and Nags Head. If you are happy with the place you would be staying, I say go for it!
