self serving psyco rant

So I go to my local Foodlion to do a little shopping, when I say little, I have $50.00 left in my food budget and need to buy enough groceries to last till my next payday which comes on the 15th of this month, Not really an issue as we have become accustomed to it.
Anyway here is where it starts.
I got my stuff and standing in line with my handbasket with what I believe is about $48.00, 11 items, in front of me is a guy that has a screaming child a rolling buggy overflowing with goods, I'm thinking theres got to be over $300.00 in that buggy, so anyway, total comes to $347 and change and the dude pays with foodstamps, $347.00 in food stamps, I'm thinkin thats alot of foodstamps, my food budget is about $200 a month for me and my kid, anyway what happend next is what set me off,
The dude plunks down $80 cash for 2 cases of beer and a carton of cigarettes
Now I dont mind when a person needs a helping hand, but this made me furious, I dont know how this all works but I figured the 350 in foodstamps was for the whole month ?? but I figure the beer and ciggs wont last a week,
SO IF THIS GUY HAS GOT $80.00 A WEEK TO SPEND ON FREEKIN BEER AND CIGARETTES MAYBE HE SHOULD QUIT THAT $#!T AND FEED HIS FAMILY WITH HIS OWN FRIKKIN MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!
THE MONEY ONE GETS AS A HELPING HAND SHOULD NOT ALLOW FOR FRIVOLOUS SPENDING OF MONEY THAT COULD OTHERWISE BE USED FOR SELF SUPPORT, I AM SO PISSED THAT THIS IS ALLOWED!!!!!!!!!!
PINS AND NEEDLES NEEDLES AND PINS A HAPPY MAN IS A MAN THAT GRINS :) :)
I FEEL MUCH BETTER NOW ... THANKS FOR LISTENING !!

The sad part is the people that actually NEED govt assistance get eaten alive and wiped out by people that prefer govt assistance.

There should be a public listing of who and what addresses are receiving welfare, including 'food stamps,' free lunch, Section 8 rent supplement, etc. This isn't to shame anyone, but to let the taxpayer see where the money goes. There are some cheaters, but most are not. There are also free loaders living off the recipients.

Oh wait, they didn't do squat and blaming it on the Dems shows misplaced hostility. It's a stereotype, and it's wrong.
There are no easy answers here, but blaming it on the "dems" is a conservative scapegoat.

Blaming the Demos who happen to control a supermajority in the Senate and a majority in the house AND the white house, seems a reasonable thing to do, doesn't it?
Please don't tell me you think Hussein is going to crack down on food stamp fraud... those are his constituents after all.

Amen.
Such are the totally inefficient "solutions" provided by government. Rife with abuse, waste and lack of oversight.

Oh, I'm sorry! I had no idea Sadam Hussein escaped the death penalty! Oh wait! You mean PRESIDENT OBAMA. Sorry, your xenophobia was blinding me for a second.
I happen to agree that buying cigs and beer is shameful. I do NOT however think it's one party's fault. It has become a situation which has spiraled out of control. I have no idea how to fix it and I don't think Washington or our State governments do either.

Too many times I've stood in line in the grocery store and seen some outrageous things our taxes have paid for that I couldn't afford. Only to see them drive away in a car I couldn't or wouldn't pay for.
Yes, it happens a lot and it's thanks to a government that is great at creating 'solutions' and then not monitoring them.
All the more reason to fear the Cap and Trade nonsense, universal health discussions etc.
We can't afford more government nonsense they will not be honest about or truly govern over.

Not all women can take the shot, nor can they use the birth control. First there are allergies to latex. Then there are those that cannot take birth control pills due to having severe depression (like I had), blood clot risks, etc. The depo shot is just as bad or worse for some as birth control pills. I had the implants, and I was spotting or having breakthrough bleeding for 2 years every single day before I finally had it taken out. The lower doses of birth control I was on, and I got pregnant with my second child even though I took it religiously. The rhythm method just does not always work for all. There are reactions to spermacides. So, the government getting involved in this opens them up to a world of problems.

The two items have nothing in common. I actually feel this man shouldn't qualify for foodstamps, if he can afford smokes and beer. Perhaps the rules should be tightened. If he can afford that, then that tells me he shouldn't receive benefits.
Of course, one could argue, even if we take his foodstamps away, he's still going to buy smokes and beer. That means, there are little hungry mouths at home which won't be fed. No legislation can change a human. If he's scum, he'll be scum on foodstamps or not.
And the kids starve.

As to government programs, good intentions gone seriously awry and costing everyone more and more is not a solution, it's a problem.

No, it's Hussein.
"Back the hell up. I just reread that sentence. His constituents??? You mean only poor foodstamp using, Escalade driving folk voted for him? Your prejudices are rampant"
Whoa, your stereotypes are running loose. "Poor and Escalade driving folk". Yep, I'd imagine those are just the types who would vote for the "handout in every pot" prez.
"I worked Pres. Obama's campaign, and the other folks who were there were some of the most articulate open-minded and educated people I've ever seen."
Talk to me again in a year or two about how "open minded" they are , after their 401k's , jobs, and children's futures are totally in the tank. We'll see how "articulate" they remain.

My comment about this particular story is....
We do not know the 'other person's story' when we run into them out in public. We do not know who they were buying for and why they chose to buy what they did. It is hasty indeed to judge someone so harshly on one short encounter in the store. If they do not deserve to be on welfare and it has been documented over time... fine, rant away! Better yet, turn them in so something constructive can be done.

She has NEVER stopped complaining about it, and we've had a variety of elected leaders from both sides of the fence.
I think the issue needs to be addressed, but I'd hardly say it matters who is in the white house. It matters who is in congress, however.

Amazingly, they did not and in fact it reduced the welfare numbers substantially and many prior welfare recipients did go off welfare after gaining employment.
This link shows in depth coverage of welfare historically through charts and supported data:

I feel that people should only be able to get welfare for a certain amount of time. And it should not be dependent on the amount of kids you have. You have 2 kids, and are on welfare, WHY do you need to be able to have any others on the Government dime? Sorry, but they need to just overhaul this system.
OH, and if you are illegal NO WELFARE, NO PROGRAMS, NO SCHOOLS FOR YOU. If you have kids that are born here, TOO BAD, they are NOT citizens. It is just stupid to give our services to people who are NOT citizen and are not here legally.
