This story justifiably received more press coverage from WRAL than the July 4 Tea Party held yesterday in downtown Raleigh.

Despite a golden opportunity to capitalize on voter outrage over proposed tax increases, the GOP continues to fumble the ball in the budget debate.   In an environment of rare unanimity amongst various splinter groups, the GOP appears to lack leadership capable of organizing opposition to Bev Perdue's $1.5 billion tax increase.

NC residents facing one of the highest state unemployment rates in the country cannot afford to wait for the next election cycle to experience renewed economic growth.

Due to cost pressures and reduced revenue, companies are shopping around for new low-cost facility locations within the United States.  To reduce churn in labor markets, the Obama Administration is considering the introduction of a proposal to restrict state tax reductions and other business incentives in states that have received federal stimulus money.

In the absence of federal intervention, states with favorable tax climates are seizing key employers from states like North Carolina that are rushing to enact higher taxes.

Instead of capitalizing on the willingness of employers to relocate, Bev Perdue and House Democrats seem determined to drive North Carolina businesses to other states.

As major employers flee this state for greener pastures, Republican leaders are gravely mistaken if they believe that voters will reward incumbent candidates that limit their opposition solely to ineffectual block voting tactics.

To reduce churn in labor markets, the Obama Administration is actually considering the introduction of a proposal to restrict state tax reductions and other business incentives in states that have received federal stimulus money."

Dang, I am a strong supporter of State's rights, but this actually makes sense

If the feds meddle with states rights, we're on yet another slippery slope and the 'strings attached' to the fed stimulus funds AFTER the fact of receiving them is wrong. Even if the idea is right, the action is wrong and overstepping a very serious line.

It would be up to the leadership of the STATE to do the right thing in such times, not the feds to dictate.

Even if the idea is right, the action is wrong and overstepping a very serious line."

I agree Nancy. Even if it is the right idea, it is the wrong way to do it!!

"This story justifiably received more press coverage from WRAL than the July 4 Tea Party held yesterday in downtown Raleigh."

that's because it was more interesting, and more relevant to the lives of the ordinary citizen than a tea bag

The Dems in this State have a death grip on what moves forward in the Legislature. However, the minority party seems unable or unwilling to make use of the great discontent that is mounting in this State. If the Obama administration continues to interfere in commercial activities, they will further encourage business to move off-shore. For some reason the people in our Government seem unable to recognize what is happening in the private sector. Sure they will keep some business interested so long as they can glom on to money from the Treasury. But that will and is becoming a dwindling resource. Many of us recognize that spending what you do not have is utter foolishness, but sadly those that control the public purse strings do not yet get what is happening. That is evidenced by the fools in the administration that advised POTUS that unemployment could be held at 8 percent. They denied or ignored reality.

"that's because it was more interesting, and more relevant to the lives of the ordinary citizen than a tea bag"

An example of why we are headed where we going. Even now the State of California is handing out IOUs because of their unsustainable progressive policies. And yet our Legislature wants to raise taxes.

Taxes good. Capitalism bad. Government rules. WRAL is a tool of government.

And looked at the quality of writing you get here - doors busted down, animals gone missing and so on. Let us hope that eventually we will all be so broken down by rampant statism that we think WRAL is well written.

"that's because it was more interesting, and more relevant to the lives of the ordinary citizen than a tea bag"

Actually, if that is what grabs the interest of adults, that's part of the problem of this country now. People are not going to get involved or concerned until their wallets are empty.

Nothing motivates someone to get off their behinds like someone stealing them blind, then they scream.

So much specualtion about the demise and turmoil of the Republicans. Me thinks it's wishful thinking of those who know in their hearts that this is going to be a one term Democratic administration and no matter who the Republicans put up on the stage will win with no problem. LOL At this point almost any blue dog could win.

i think there is a general fear of looking head on at something we're not quite sure how to change...."vote'em all out" sounds great.....until you see the next batch that wants to be voted in.....experience (even bad) trumps inexperienced in most cases....and they've made it illegal to just take'em all out and shoot them
