free fishing on the fourth in nc
Published Jul. 4, 2009Views: 161
North Carolina fisherman can cast their lines on Independence Day without getting a license.
State law allows free fishing every July Fourth as a way to promote the sport. Both saltwater and freshwater areas will be accessible.
Annual saltwater fishing licenses are $15 for state residents and $30 for non-state residents. License holders must be 16 or older.
I encourage all those who have wanted to go to take advantage of the no license needed today and take a kid fishing.
Also a tip for fishing with young kids is to use a very small hook so as to increase the over all catch that smaller fish normal fisherman call baitstealers can be caught. This will keep the kids more iterested in fishing instead of chasing butterflies.

Of course, we have charge for licenses to pay to have wildlife officers be out there getting those who don't have licenses. I know they do more, but a poor guy who pond/river fishes now and again have to pay the same as the guy on the custom boat 52 times a year. Big government with its hand in your pocket.
