why is it we segregate in sports?

Why is it that we still practice segregation in sports?
The PGA is open to either sex, but not the LPGA.
I assume baseball is open, but not college basketball, not the women's.
Swimming is segregated by sex.
Track & field is segregated, even testing for sex.
Car Racing is integrated.
Why is segregation OK in sports?
Well, it was just a thought.
Remember when UNC had the top male and female basketball program. They were going to play a non-conference game with Tennessee, I think it was. I emailed Dean Smith and suggested they play with at least two of the opposite sex on each team. (probably two female guards each). The Tennessee team had a great woman's team.
That would be a rule change that would work. Both sexes on the court, at least two of each. Might even add to the sport, and be interesting in the locker room.

I was a tomboy when I was growing up. I played baseball, basketball AND football (tackle) with the boys in my neighborhood (and sometimes college). But I personally have no problem with segregation in sports. I personally don't want to watch a football game and see a woman QB get sacked, though if she played, then sack she'll get and more power to the tackle that takes her down. I DO think that there should be a female sport equivalent to the male sport for those who enjoy playing. I will say that I'd LOVE to to watch a world class softball pitcher pitch to a major league player. Somehow, I think it would make for good laughs.

If you recall when the US Women's Soccer won a few years ago, people suggested that they play on men's professional soccer teams. The top women players said they could not play physically at that level.
Basically, the best college womens' soccer team is on par with a pretty good Boys U-14 club team.
Really, all you have to do is watch women's sports and see how painful it is. Women's college basketball and professional basketball is so painful to watch, I don't. Women's soccer is pretty much the same.

In tennis, in figure skating, looks of the female seem very important. Even in golf, fans seem to like feminine looks, whatever that might be.

There are male players who could compete for the scholarships in college that now go to women...but oh, if they could do that, then there would have to be a quota, and quotas are wrong.
The rules of basketball discriminate against people born short, and could be seen as against women.
There's hypocrisy in the way sexism is applied in one place, bu tnot another.
