vitiligo, lupus & mj

In 1986 Michael Jackson was diagnosed with Vitiligo and Lupus. Vitiligo is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. Lupus is an auto-immune and inflammatory disease which attacks healthy cells, tissues and organs and can be fatal. In the 1993 Oprah Winfrey interview with Jackson he finally admitted to having this illness to debunk the ‘skin bleaching’ rumors.

Vitiligo is associated with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases like Lupus and Addison’s.  Lupus can cause inflammation of the heart, lungs, joints and many, like Jackson, experience pneumonia and cardiac manifestations and anemia. Extreme fatigue and joint pain are common with Lupus. Although it seemed odd years ago, Michael wearing a mask was wise. He came into contact with millions of people, each one a risk to his health when living with Lupus. There is no cure for Vitiligo, nor is there a cure for Lupus.Treatments for Vitiligo include a topical steroid cream (mild topical corticosteroid cream). Corticosteroids are a group of drugs similar to hormones such as cortisone and are often used to treat Lupus patients. Ultraviolet therapy and photochemotherapy may be use to help darken the patches, although this may increase skin cancer risk, burning or blistering. Vitiligo patients with over 50% of their body may opt for depigmentation, to match the already depigmented areas.I don't know what's true, and what's not true.  I just think that if this is true, it explains at least one of MJ's mysteries.

Ya know if everyone would think MJ did not have a normal child hood! So maybe he did create"Neverland" for himself, but not only for him but to give other kids who's family may cant afford to go to the circus or to a theme park a fun child hood and something to remember! Plus one of those kids who was supposedly "molested" has already come forward and said MJ did nothing to him that his dad wanted money!! I think his family is going thru enough w/o having to go thru this again!

oh for whoever said something about his kids' skin the 2 oldest are not bilogically his. (from what foxnews says anyways)

I have vitiligo in a smallish area below my knee. It has never spread and has been the same size since birth. As a caucasian it is barely noticable unless I get a tan so I am lucky. I have seen African American people with this on their hands and face and it is very noticable. I don't ever recall seeing any trace of it on MJ and wonder if he used this as an excuse to bleach his skin to appear lighter. After all he also changed his features to appear more caucasian. Not trying to knock him but I just wonder.

Happy, I did not see that video. I keep thinking about the one where they were questioning him about children spending the night in his room and while I watched him give his answers--His eyes looked like he just didn't get it. I just kept thinking that it looked like they were talking to a 5 year old child about why it's wrong to have a sleepover.

Wheeler - did you see the one where he asked the reporter if he wanted to climb in his "thinking" tree (I think that was what he called it.) It was the oddest video I'd ever seen of him and made me cry. He was SO childlike in his innocence.

I really did feel sorry for him. As much joy as he gave to this world thru his music, he was never, ever comfortable being a part of the public eye.

Q - you have your opinions and that's fine. No one knows what happened except the kids and him so I'm not going to debate it. Yes, as a GROWN MAN, it's inappropriate but I believe that his mentality (which is what steers a person's actions) was very stunted and immature.

As a male his age I would NEVER have a child spend the night in my room alone. It is not appropriate, frankly there is something twisted about it. He never denied the allegations, to have rooms decorated the way it was reported ...well you can spin that anyway you want to it still comes out wrong. Immature adult or not he was still almost 50. Now i fault the mothers of those children as much as I do him for allowing these attrocities to supposedly happen but he paid out alot of $$ to settle those allegations

His lips were also thinned, hair straightend. His sisters also had facial surgery done and their skin lightened. Just look at Janet Jackson on Good Times and look at her now.

I agree with everything happy just said.

Watch some of the interview clips. It's pretty sad.

I can't say that because I obviously wasn't close enough to him to make that final decision. I've just watched several video clips that lead me to believe that he was a very, very immature adult. Who names their ranch after a fictional place? Who has amusement rides, animals, etc.? It wasn't for the kids. It was for him.

Really, it's pretty sad if you step back and look at it.

happy.. so you would let your children visit Neverland without your supervision with MJ on the grounds
