Published Jul. 2, 2009Views: 3174
Have you ever wanted to work at the White House? If so, you’ll probably find this report interesting. Each year, the White House sends a list to Congress with the name, title and salary of every employee who works there.
The latest report is posted on WhiteHouse.gov. I've listed just a few of the positions and salaries. An interesting side note, did you know that the Obama White House employs several staffers who are in their 20s? Obama’s personal aide is 26 and his secretary is 27. You can see their salaries and more below:
- President’s Chief of Staff: $172,200
- President’s Press Secretary: $172,200
- President’s Personal Aide: $102,000
- President’s Personal Secretary: $75,000
- First Lady’s Press Secretary: $84,000
- Director for White House citizen participation: $82,500
- Director of African American Media: $78,000
- Director of Hispanic Media: $65,000
- Presidential Speechwriter: $45,000
- Operator: $42,800

What?! Those seem like unnecessary jobs.....Some of the other jobs are WAY too low of a salary for that area.....And honestly, almost $200K for working the hours they do isn't nearly enough for those high level jobs.... But over $100K for an "aide" might be stretching it.

I think the current Health Care "reform"/socialized medicine, Cap and Trade (which can't be proven to do anything more than cut jobs), the Sotomayor nomination (that's uncomfortable getting your ruling thrown out by the people you're trying to work with....of course the ruling by her was idiotic, so that's hard to justify), etc, etc......those things are hard to explain and sorry to say that Gibbs has done a less than steller job.....Must be taking notes on running press conferences from Nancy Pelosi.

That would be a member of the speechwriting staff. The two chief architects of the speeches are the Communications Director and Deputy Communications Director, both of whom make decidedly more than $45,000 per year. (As they should, honestly. Given their qualifications, these folks could be making more money working just about anywhere else they wanted to.)
