so this is how to relax!!

AHHHH!!! I had forgotten what it meant to relax. We have worked so hard these past two years that relaxation to me meant falling asleep in front of the tv on my comfy chair at 10:30 pm. But NO!!! That was not relaxing. THIS is relaxing.
We arrived at Lake Gaston yesterday around 3:30pm. The kids preceded us with Grandma and Papa. Also, BIL and is daughter were already here with their lab. We came late, bringing Abby, our lab with us.
After unloading all of our luggage and miscellaneous 'stuff' we took the new bass boat out for a spin. Once everyone had their turn, we settled in to a nice grill-cooked meal of hamburgers and hotdogs. With dishes cleaned and dogs settled, it was time to fish. I personally caught 2 - a small lg. mouth bass and a white bass with my daughter's ultra-light. My daughter, seeing my success decided that she wanted to use her rod and hung another good size bass, but didn't quite get it to the boat. My husband caught a small bass on his bait caster and hung bubba, but he got away.
This morning, I slept in while hubby, BIL and son all went out for the morning fish. Some luck, but no keepers. As the sun peaked high over head, Grandma and Papa took the kids out on the ski boat for some tubing while hubby and BIL went to the store to stock up on some necessities. I stayed with the dogs, just enjoying the hammock at the waters edge.
While there, I watched a blue herron fly low over the water, search for fish. With nothing encouraging, it swooped to cool it under the shade tree across the cove. The ospry had better luck, diving down into the water and surfacing with a decent sized fish in it's talons. Meanwhile, the beaver was swimming out across the cove, frolicking in the shallows. Then I sat in awe as first 1 deer, then another came out and crossed the narrow area between main land and the small island where we fish.
Once everyone returned, we sat to a quick lunch of sandwiches and chips. With that completed, the kids are back out on the boat for some swimming in the shallows. Grandma and Papa are off running errands and I again wait with the dogs, just enjoying NOT moving. I continue to watch for the deer to re-cross to the main land. I hope to get a picture. If I do, great. If not, well, I really did see them. But oh how nice to just ... sit. With no demands on my time other than eat, breath and occassionally move.
I expect that tomorrow I'll feel like playing in the water with the kids. I look forward to fishing tonight. But if I do nothing more than just breath, I'll be fine with that as well. It's nice for a change!
