supreme court overrules sotomayor, rules in favor of white firefighters

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court has ruled that white firefighters in New Haven, Conn., were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision that high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge.
What is obviously a correct decision to many people, this was decided 5-4...scary, huh?
"A controversial decision by Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor was just overruled by the current Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision, which probably means that Justice Kennedy was the deciding vote. The ruling said that 20 white firefighters who were denied a promotion after they took a leadership test were unfairly discriminated against based on their race. Sotomayor had previously ruled that discriminating based on race was acceptable in this situation.
The reversal will add more flame to the fires of her controversial attitudes towards race, which were ignited when her "wise Latina" comments were made public:
I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

"The lead plaintiff, Frank Ricci, is a veteran firefighter who said in sworn statements that he spent thousands of dollars in preparation and studied for months for the exam. Ricci said he is dyslexic, so he had tapes made of the test materials and listened to them on his commute to work."
I hope this will help sink Sotomayor's nomination.

I'm glad to see they've ruled in favor of intelligence on this one, maybe it will encourage some of these BLACKS who get into college by Affirmative Action to actually Complete college.
Maybe they can come up with Intelligence Action now! LOL

THe only way she gets any flak for this in confirmation is if any republican has the stones to ask her is her own racial prejudice played a role in her decision. And even then she will just deny it.

Promotion just because you are of ANY race is immoral and should be illegal.
All the folks on the USSC should have seen that. Obviously, about half of them didn't. And that's a shame.
