1981 - A woman in Lubbock, TX, was struck by lightning. The bolt of lightning struck just above her right shoulder, passing through her body. It ripped off her sweat pants and caused her tennis shoes to explode, throwing her into the air.
1947 - Twelve inches of rain fell in 42 minutes at Holt, Missouri.
