best kisses of all

EDIT: This is a repost! With the wake today and funeral tomorrow, my family and I have been recalling stories and happy memories. I thought I'd share this again. END EDIT!
I have been spending quite a bit of time with my grandmother lately. She recently had a fall and broke her pelvic bone (again). At 97, she has been relocated to a nursing facility where she can get more focussed help and assistance. Being nearly blind, she has a bit of trouble adapting to new environments, so we (her kids and grandkids) all take it in turns to visit with her and help her adjust to her new surroundings.
I enjoy our moments to visit. She sometimes reminisces about her childhood. Or she'll talk about her married life. She enjoys those trips down memory lane and I enjoy hearing them. The other day, she was sharing some memories of when she married my grandfather. As she was telling her story, she mentioned that they rarely fought or argued, but that on occassion, they would get into some disagreements. I listened as she told her tales and she concluded by saying that life is too short to live it angry with your husband or wife. Best to just kiss and make up rather than stay angry. Then she smiled and leaned close to me and said in a rather conspiratorial voice, "Those were the best kisses of all!"
