is it really that difficult to drive in the rain?

Begin rant:
Does anyone know why people drive 20mph in the rain? I know there is always a risk of hydroplaning and it is very important to be careful when it rains.
I am not one of those speed-demons and tend to be a pretty careful driver, particularly because I usually have children with me. BUT, no matter where I've lived it's the same thing. (Well, South Florida may have been the worst...)
Some people slow all but to a crawl when it's raining and it really doesn't make any sense.
I agree that we should slow down, but I think that everyone around me this morning was driving 20mph.
At any rate...at least I made it here safely and didn't see anyone hydroplane. So I suppose I could just be grateful about that and stop complaining.
Okay, I feel better now.

Some cars are better than others when driving in heavy rain; I have a very low car, so I am extra cautious when it's raining. That said, I don't drive at 20 mph unless I see pairs of animals heading toward a guy with a long beard and a hammer in his hand.

How hard is it to turn your headlights on? When it is raining, foggy or simply overcast and visibility is low, turn your lights on! Yeah, you can probably see just fine without them. However, it's much easier for on-coming traffic to see you if you have your lights on.
