Mets versus Yankees. Mets up 8 to 7 in the bottom of the ninth after having fought back three times. Francisco Rodriguez, the best closer in baseball at 16 for 16 saves and an ERA of 0.61 had come in for the Mets in the ninth to shut them down.
Gardner fouls out to Schneider. Jeter singles. Rodriguez makes a fool out of Damon while Jeter steals second. Teixeira intentionally walked. Yankees on first and second. Two outs. A-Rod at the plate.
He takes A-Rod to 3-0, pitching him around the edges, drills a high fastball, and gets the popup to short center-right field. Castillo drifts over from second base, sets under the fly, The ball lands right in his glove.
AND HE DROPS THE BALL.
Two runs score for the Yankees who beat the Mets 9-8.
*I* could have caught that one. I am disgusted. Castillo needs to be sent down to Savannah for a couple of weeks to learn how to use two hands to catch a baseball.
