n.c. house agrees to tax package as part of budget
Published Jun. 12, 2009Views: 112
The House voted 64-52 in favor of higher sales and income taxes, as well as increases on liquor and movies.
---
Since I am unemployed, the tax I pay for sales is nearly zero, since I have no income, I don't get to pay Income Taxes. I have all the liquor that I need for a few years, and I very rarely will attend a movie.
And this just adds to my contention that whomever voted for this provision is replaced the next election.

They think nothing of irresponsible spending, wasting tax dollars, providing free education and healthcare to illegals, etc... and then they just turn around and claim to be broke.
All levels of govt are out of control!!!

Taxes aren't the the point they will create an underround economy yet - but they probably will get there before too long. That's why Obama is concentrating on excise taxes - they hit the poor and middle class hardest (which is where the money is) and are harder to cheat on.

While this is true and I completely agree with the sentiment (who IS John Galt anyway...), I see people suggest WE change in reaction to the government.
Why should that be the case?
Why should we merely acquiesce to the looters in office?
When did the 'wisdom' of elected theives become the generally accepted rule?
How did the population come to view government as the arbiter of what THEY think is right and good instead of the defender of what We the People KNOW to be right and good?
I hold little confidence that any electoral process will put the necessay restrictions back onto the government.
Sadly, I expect the system to continue to further degrade into a statist regime until it either implodes or gets forcibly removed.
The question is this: How bad will the suffering be in this country before the populace gets the motivation to do something about their tyrannical government?
