letterman nasty rape comment.
Published Jun. 11, 2009Views: 459
Remember when late night talkshow hosts poked harmless fun at celebrities? Now it seems anything goes. It's really shameless and disgusting. Letterman would never make such crude jokes about President Obama's daughters, not because he wouldn't, but because he is a huge liberal.
If Letterman felt compelled to make sexual jokes about Palin's daughter, at least do a little research beforehand. You see, the Palin daughter who attended the game was Willow, not Bristol. This child is only about 14 years old. Letterman’s rape comment was beyond redemption. No one would want a child to be exposed to such nastiness. Willow is only about 4 years older than one of the Obama girls.
What is it about Letterman's fascination about Palin anyways? She's last year's news. Why can't he joke about Joe Biden's gaff-a-day?
Letterman offered no apology the night after the vulgar remark. Apparently CBS seems no need to warn him.

what else could it be? Sarah's pregnant teenage daughter appears on stage with her soon-to-be highschool dropout boyfriend and the crowd starts yelling "Drill baby drill!"
I mean, what else could that POSSIBLY be in reference to other than a celebration of Levi's studliness?

Trust me, I knew exactly what you meant. Don't try to subvert the question at hand. You still have yet to answer it -
What's the difference between a comedian and someone being comedic?

Its not specific to Golo. Look at how Palin was treated during the campaign, go back and read some of the ongoing Golo comments over the last few months. That is the reason for my comment. Look at fayofbundy's comments in this and other threads. Even the left has identified the mysogyny against conservative women besides Palin, I will see if I can find that article.
"The 18 year old is the one famous for getting knocked up and Letterman has clarified the joke was about the 18 year old, therefore you’re not paying attention."
That's the excuse he is using. Considering press coverage identified and showed the 14-year old that argument is invalid.
June 11, 2009 9:58 a.m.
thank you for the honorable mention, but I'm not a misogynist. I like women. If you define misogyny as disliking a particular woman (like say, Hillary Clinton for instance) then I'd say that we're all pretty much misogynists?
hard to keep up with these ever-changing definitions.

Um, considering one of Palin's platforms was based on offshore drilling it could have been showing support for that. How do you know they weren't cheering Sarah? How do you know it was specifically directed at Levi? The convention goers chanted "drill baby drill" several times before, during and after the Palins were on stage. They also chanted "USA! USA!", showing support for their candidate.
So, if you have an interview or something with one of the convention goers that states as fact what you are assuming please let me know.

I define misogyny as personal, unadulterated hatred for a woman. Yours and other Palin bashing is mysogynistic in nature. You attack personally, instead of disagreeing on policy.
June 11, 2009 10:04 a.m.
Ok. Sorry, sometimes you say things that I can't quite put together.
In this particular case, Rush is "pathetically comedic" without trying. As opposed to Dave, who is comedic because that is his job.

bradh2, I'm going to let you in on something that everyone else on this blog has already figured out.
My comment about "drill baby drill" was a joke.
Ok, now you're caught up with the rest of us. Proceed.

Substitute Pelosi for Palin, and you have the Republican version.
Who cares??? Seriously?
They both are pathetic.

Only Steve Crisp has the Official GOLO Green Light to do that!!! How dare you do the same, you are just a pretender to the throne!!!

No I'm not, and no, I won't. I won't have time to keep fighting the trolls.
And upon reflection, perhaps mysogynistic was too strong of a word, demeaning would have been more appropriate.

using the same logic, when you talk to Letterman and he tells you it was about the 14 year old, not just your assumption, let us know as well.

Yeah, but the other folks of your ilk say the same. Just look around and there's at least one or two Pelosi blogs a day.

No need. You’re describing partisan politics and hypocrisy, not misogyny.
“That's the excuse he is using.” – bradh2
If you want to assume his joke writers specifically meant the younger one, and Letterman knew this, feel free. Common sense says it was about the one that got knocked up.
But the fact that you seem to think fayofbundy’s thinks “drill baby drill” comment is really about sex, I’m not sure you’re thinking straight on this one. Release the bait before fayofbundy drags you all the way into the boat! :)

According to everything I see only the younger daughter went.
Common sense says that he is talking about the younger one, but could also seem to mean he is too stupid to know better?

It's not an assumption, the 14-year old was at the game. It was covered in the press.
"Yeah, but the other folks of your ilk say the same. "
If you show me who they are I will stand next to you and tell them "enough". But I have not seen any shirts like that about Pelosi.
"But the fact that you seem to think fayofbundy’s thinks “drill baby drill” comment is really about sex, "
He only stated it about 3 times. Perhaps I did not recognize the sarcasm.

Change “a woman” to “women”, and you’re there.

Might be right. I don’t know. I didn’t even know they went to a ball game.

No. He just reads what his writers write. Since Bristol is now famous for getting knocked up, I assumed that was who he was talking about. He probably did too when he read what his writers gave him.
“but could also seem to mean he is too stupid to know better?” - Ashen-Shugar
That could be the case, though more likely it is ignorance rather than stupidity.

Well, I guess ignorance is an excuse now huh? I think I would check my sources regarding making jokes about someone that just gave birth as a minor, and impregnating her again.
Common sense says no common sense was used. In this case ignorance and stupidity are the same, and was recited as a joke.

lol. it's ok. I did catch and release as soon as they took the picture of me standing proudly beside the big bradh2 that I just landed. It'll go good with the pic of me and the marlin that I caught last year.

Bristol is not 18.
Also, there was no rape mentioned.
DUH bristol was not the one at the game-- Willow, her 14 year old child was. How would you folks like it if he made a joke about your 14 year old daughter getting knocked up during the game. Wouldn't be so funny then would it.

So A Rod left the game, went to wherever Bristol was, and knocked her up during the 7th inning? You can not be serious.
Only the 14 year old Willow was at the game and accessible to him during an inning. A little common sense would help you understand that.
Unless of course David Letterman has the mind of a teleprompter, and only spews forth what other people write without conscious understanding.
I could go along with that.

Anyway, that wouldn't make A-rod a pedophile, it would make him a hebephile.
