please help! question
Published May. 4, 2009Views: 125
I blogged earlier about my cat who is currently in quarantine at animal control. She killed a bat this weekend and we are awaiting the rabies test result. Unfortunately, her rabies vacc. had expired.
Here is my question and I can't find the answer anywhere... If the bat does in fact test positive for rabies will animal control come and take my other two animals who's vaccs. have also expired? The other two animals (one cat and one dog) did not come in contact with the bat.
Please be nice. I am absolutely beside myself with guilt.

If the other animals did not come into contact with the bat and you are sure that they do not have rabies, I'd probably get them vaccinated really fast and then leave them at someone else's house for a little while or at least until Pumkin was cleared. If animal control said anything, I'd say that the animals ran away.
Is that the right thing to do? Maybe not, but that is what I would do as long as I was sure that the other two weren't at risk.
