Adolf Frankenberger Schicklegruber Hitler
Well, with all this talk about Hitler today (really not all that much, but more than a usual day), it got me thinking. Adolf Hitler's father's name was Alois Schicklegruber. He was born out of wedlock, and took his mother's name (Alois' father's name was Hitler). Had Adolf Hitler been called Adolf Schicklegruber do you think he would have been able to capture the hearts and minds of so many? Heil Schicklegruber just does not have the same ring to it.
I personally think something as simple as a different name could have changed history.
This man's atrocities can cloud the question...so just as another small example...Actors/Actresses/pretty much a good chunk of people in the public eye are not called by the name they were born with. It almost always changed to something catchy or unique or easy to remember. I don't think Angelina Jolie would have made it as far with a name like Brunhilda Smellypits, though technically it changes nothing about her .

Moe Howard got miles and miles of comedy from it 1940's "Three Stooges" shorts. :-)

The fear/disgust or whatever emotion someone like Hitler evoked would have been the same regardless. Now Brunhilda Jolie, too funny and way different reception....

It was Smorg, but we know all these famous people's real names (well, at least some do, I don't), but they still do not go by them. What I'm trying to say is...what if just a little blip made the name Hitler forgotten in that family instead of used. What if the anger was too great with the grandfather. Do you think Adolf Schicklegruber could have come to power in the capacity he did??
