the discussion of love

1 Corinthians 13:4-13
Love is patient and kind, not jealous, not boastful, not proud, rude or selfish, not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not gloat over other peoples sins but takes delight in the truth. Love always bears up, always trusts, always hopes, always endures. Love never ends; but prophesies will pass, tongues will cease, knowledge will pass. For our knowledge is partial, and our prophesy partial; but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, thought like a child, argued like a child; now that I have become a man, I have finished with childish ways. For now we see obscurity in a mirror, but then it will be face to face. Now I know partly; then I will know fully, just as God has fully known me. But for now, three things last - trust, hope, love; and the greatest of these is love. Pursue love
*thanks Mojo for have this in an easy place for me to find*
Ok, let me start off first by saying this is NOT a religious discussion, it is a philisophical one. This is about the words themself, not the book it came from. Anything derogatory or off subject in a way that could lead to fighting will be deleted (just because I never have, it doesn't mean I never will).
"and the greatest of all these is love, pursue love"
That quote right there says it all for me pretty much. There is no more unifying word, expression, feeling. When there is love...romantic or otherwise it can not be stopped. Things are done in the name of love without hesitation, that our minds would normally tell us "woah dawg, hold on". It has led me to wonder of the purpose of this emotion. It truly can become the tie that binds us all. We fight it though...we try to ignore it...we don't allow it to come in to being. I believe we do this because we are scared. The power of this emotion leaves us out of our own control. We do what is right, not what is best for our personal self. I believe if we didn't fight love, we would have our Utopia.
What is your opinion on it? This is philosophy, there is no wrong answer.
Once again, this is NOT a blog on religion. Do NOT try to turn it into one. This is not to say you can't speak of your religion and how love applies to it...but it needs to be done in a personal context if you do. I personally didn't...but that is only because I believe it would have taken away from what I wanted the focus of the blog to be.
