I might have confused matters by posting it as a vegan/vegetarian blog. The cookbook itself is not vegetarian and Gingerleigh is looking for all kinds of recipes. (see below) But there will be a vegetarian section so I cross posted in the veggie group so that the vegetarian section wouldn't be one lonely little bean casserole recipe. Hope that makes it clearer. :)
This was posted a couple of days ago, but I wanted to put this out there for all the veggies. Send Ginger your recipes! I'm going to make this a public blog so that all the folks not fortunate enough to hang out in the veggie/vegan group can be inspired and send in their recipes too! :D
There will be a vegetarian section so lets make sure that it is full of tasty recipes and show that vegetarians really do eat stuff besides twigs and leaves. ;)
T-man, I hear that your wife makes a rocking lasagna....send it to Ginger. Same with you Headlong! (If you guys have not already sent it out) I know that BlueDevilRose was sending in some stuff.

Just about every home today has a cookbook in its kitchen. More people are collecting them. From new cookbooks and recipes we can learn different ways to prepare our food and from old cookbooks and recipes we can learn about kitchens of the past and how they prepared their meals. Down through the years cookbooks have made an excellent gift for birthdays and other special occasions. Cookbooks have also been an excellent source for fund raising.
With the recent economic crisis, many families have found themselves stretching their budget and eating at home more. Gone are the times, for many of us, when we could eat out every week – sometimes even several times a week. Families are rediscovering the pleasure of eating at home together, but meals on a tight budget can become boring after a while.
Since I, and many others, love to cook, I came up with an idea…what if we compile a GOLO Cookbook that everyone can contribute recipes to? One of the goals is to create meals that cost less than ten dollars for a family of four. Anything costing less than that would certainly be a winner.
The $10 and under section will just be one category.I would also like to see the traditional categories of appetizers, entrees, desserts, etc. with a little twist. The twist being a brief history of your recipe, detailing humorous antidotes or cherished memories of when you prepared the meal. Reading the stories behind the recipes can be as enjoyable as preparing the recipe itself.
The other, and ultimate goal of the cookbook will be as a fund raiser for GOLO's Blog for Hope. Once all the recipes have been collected, we can create a GOLO cookbook. At that point, if we feel confident enough to market our book to friends, family, and other Internet readers, we can even print it in hard copy on demand, and sell it. The proceeds will go to our Blog for Hope.
This can be a really fun thing, and it can help our community by providing recipes for nutritious and tasty meals on a tight budget. And it’s all for a good cause.
So GOLO, dust off those recipes Grandma left or create your own, and send them to me. I will start a group soon, but for the time being I would be delighted to collect them.
I look forward to reading your ideas! Email your recipes and ideas to Gingerleigh225@yahoo.com

Lady, cookbooks are fun. I'm single and I love to cook good food for myself. I look at it like this, I totally deserve tasty food way more then any of those ex-bf's did. :D

Very True. Also, in tough economic times, eating at home is budget friendly and healthy

very good viewpoint that I never considered. Since I don't have a book now I'll just have to get me one of golo's when they get out. I am awful about cooking for myself unless it's quick and simple. I do it every now and then and I should think more of myself than that.

NCN, Vegans don't eat cheese, vegetarians can/do. Vegans eat no product containing any type of animal by-product (is that the word I'm looking for?) to include honey. Vegetarians eat everything except meat.
