is he socialist or not?

I wanted to pose a thought. First and foremost this is not racially oriented and so this is my blog, anyone who uses any racial epiphats will be removed and blocked.
According to Wikipedia socialism is: a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating public or state ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and a society characterized by equality for all individuals...
Equality for "ALL" individuals.
Wikipedia goes on to continue to say: Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital, creates an unequal society, and does not provide equal opportunities for everyone in society. Therefore socialists advocate the creation of a society in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly based on the amount of work expended in production
You may think - Jointheir you are crazy. Well no I am not. I shared with a friend the other weekend, I believe socialism is going to happen but it will not be an in your face socialism. It will not be a Fidel Castro socialism. Socialist societies control the private business sector or are a main part of it. These bailouts have placed the government in the place to be in the private sector of business.
Obama's entire agenda is based on that infamous part of the definition - equality for everyone. The fact is that if ALL of his agenda comes to pass, that would mean that government will force and control the views of many, whether you agree with it or not. Conservatives want to protect the sanctity of marriage and the other side wants it redefined. Obama favors this, so laws that he may help pass will force the conservatives to "watch their mouth" because now speaking against it is a hate crime.
Will it get to that extreme? yes. It has started. Look at what he has done thus far. He has allowed government to enter the provate sector of business under the "cloack" of saving the economy. He has legalized global abortion and while trying to take away veteran benefits to pay for it. You can look at his Agenda to see all that he plans to do.
Do not look at this and say he is not Fidel Castro, or Marx, look at the definition then review the policies being set forth and the actions being taken. The fact is it is happening before our eyes and we are not seeing it because it is giving us "HOPE" much like it did for Cuba, China, Nepal, and even USSR.
Think about it. (before you comment). Not that you have read this again I want to reiterate it is NOT because he is black.
BTW websters defintion is: a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

in all fairness, that started with bush's administration. the bailout that was passed last year was supposed to be used (as approved by congress) to purchase troubled assets from financial institutions. instead, bush took the money in the bill and ignored the rest of the bill by simply giving the money to the financial institutions in exchange for ownership interests. the overwhelming majority of the moves that have nationalized businesses happened under bush, not obama.

Sure prayer changes things, but setting up blogs isn't that. It's wasting time that could otherwise be spent praying.

Further, Government is NOT moving to buy up and control banking and industry. The closest things thus far was Bush/Paulson's attempt to buy troubled companies and the REPUBLICAN's suggestion to nationalize banking which Obama was staunchly opposed to.
He also did not LEGALIZE worldwide abortion, he re-instated funds to aid countries utilizing abortion.
Obama opposes gay marriage so he is on the conservative's side on that one.
Not sure what argument you are trying to make, or why, but it failed.

If you had not tacked this on to the end then your paragraph would have been correct. However, I can find no where that the administration will make the act of stating a marriage is only between a man and a woman a hate crime. This was just needlessly inflammatory.

I thought abortions were legal? Also this was a poor attempt to link these two issues. Also, this is not the first time the issue of veteran benefits has come up. You should go back and see some of the administrations that have discussed it. You may be surprised.
As slick pointed out Bush began the bailout process and for the most part it has been government policy good or bad since then.
