hardware store offers bush job as greeter
Published Feb. 6, 2009Views: 255
Many may be familiar with the Wal-Mart greeter; the kind smiling individual standing at the opening of one of those mega-stores, ready to say hello. But DFW residents who know their nuts and bolts also know Elliott's Hardware's greeting force, who're often the perfect sage to ask, "Where can I find a plunger?" as you walk into the store in pants wet up to your ankles.
Now Elliott's has their sights set on a very specific candidate for adding to their greeting group: Former President George W Bush.
In a letter posted in the Dallas Morning News (which we've posted here), Elliott's lists the job perks, including a flexible part-time schedule, ample parking for his security, and an employee discount for his "honey-do" project list.
Sounds like a joke, right? "We are offering the position to Mr. Bush in all sincerity," said Kyle Walters, Elliott's president and CEO. "We think it would be a great fit for him as he settles back into life in Dallas."
So should Dubya take the job? Vote on the poll to the left, and tell us why (or why not) below.

You mean, "the annoying teen or octogenarian who pesters you for your receipt that you got 10 seconds earlier at the register."
I thoroughly enjoy walking past them while ignoring their pleas to stop and show them my receipt. You may not know it, but they can't stop or grab you in any way if you choose not to show them your receipt. The same goes for the jerks at Best Buy.

The Best Buy nazis are the worst. I was accosted by this ghetto thug who told me to show him my receipt for a laptop I purchased. I tolkd him to go f himself. That is when all heck broke loose... Best Buy security and the geek squad followed me out of the store and laid their hands on me. I called the police department and filed charges on the guy b/c he verbally harassed me. He was later fired from the store for inappropriate conduct.

I was at the walmart at brier creek on sunday, waiting to get in to return a defective coffemaker, and I noticed as they checked the receipts that if you were white you got waived through. I thought back and realized that the last few times I had been there that I had been waived through.

True. They can't physically stop you because that it classified as kidnapping. I had a guy get in front of me at Best Buy to try to force me to show him my receipt that he had JUST WATCHED ME TAKE FROM THE CASHIER. I said, "O.k., you win Big shot." I walked right over to the service desk and returned the camera. I have never gone back into a Best Buy.
