addiction poem

I often find myself drunk off Medusa's venom juices subsequently my cold
heart has turned to stone,
Entangled in the mist of her snakes blinded to the truth soul corrupted like the
church of Rome...
Entangled in the vines of sin asking for forgiveness but I can't
forgive those who have sinned against me,
Demons whispering in my ears that revenge is better tasted when left cold
I can't seem to shake my past transgressions spiritually...
The chains of fear greed and loathing are starting to dig in my skin destroying
the temple I have built upon this rock,
my thoughts are flooded with thoughts of transatlantic cruises of lost
souls ushered upon auction blocks...
Through it all I understand that we are slaves to our own demons and chains which unless broken will eventually lock us into our own closets of heartache,
Eyes focused on the figures in the shadows imagining that we are entangled in Medusa's snakes...
Understand that it's all symbolic the snakes, the demons the sins are all our addictions that have us enslaved in a war we can't win,
Often those addicts who jump over the ledge are lost and are never to be seen again...
Take a look in the eyes of a drug addict and see that they are nothing more than zombies who have smoked their souls into a bottomless pit,
Hells lake of fire isn't something in the afterlife it's seen nightly when a fiends glass alter is lit...
