 Whether you are a Wolfpack Fan or not, it is a sad day:

 Hall of Famer and longtime North Carolina State women's basketball coach Kay Yow has died after a decades-long fight against breast cancer. She was 66.

 She fought a long hard fight.   She suffers no more.  Prayers for the Wolfpack Nation and Kay's family.

Coach Yow You took a picture with my son who was in the NCSU pep band at the playoffs in California 2007.We cherish that.You were such a celebrity and we were so humbled that you took the time to do such a kind deed.That was because you were the kind and genuine person that so many people have said you were.Thank you for your wonderful testimony. You have been a blessing to us.Thanks for the memories.

Coach Yow was a great lady, I assisted her and the team with some travel over the years, she was so calm with the team and coaching staff. She was the leader and had the respect of all the group.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" A hero to many but to me a soldier of God who was never ashamed to give God the Glory for her life. The world will never be the same without kay Yow and she is not the same either as her suffering has turned to rejoicing. Coach on, Kay Yow, your work is finished here. God love you for all that you did everyday and God bless every heart that you touched and every life that you inspired to success. Your presence will be missed but it was a honor for everyone who knew you in any way. Coach on, coach on for heaven is a beautiful place. We know that you will be on the court every time those kids are. God bless your friends, family and all of those who are going to miss your face and your words of blessing so much.

I remember sitting at the Womens Breast Cancer tournament and seeing all of the survivors around Coach Kay and she looked so happy. To hear of her passing was like hearing that another angel was sent to earth to watch over us! Coach Kay was a strong willed person and never seized to amaze anyone. She was a fighter and a pure-hearted person when it came to the love of the game! Her fight with breast cancer may have ended but her memory will live on forever! We will surely miss you Coach Kay!

Does anyone remember what year Kay Yow volunteered to be the Honorary Chairman of Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council's annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale? Her support for all those Girl Scouts was not only good for sales, but good for the over-all Girl Scout program. Nhowe

I cried when I heard Coach Yow died. I did not personally know her, but knew the influence she has had not only on women's basketball, but more importantly anyone she came into contact with. We've followed the NCSU ladies team for several years - I've taken my granddaughters to games, one has attended her camp and has been a ballgirl the past 4-5 years. It's important that young girls today understand Kay Yow - what she has done for women's basketball and how she inspired those whose lives she touched. She truly "Never Gave Up"

I entered NCSU as a freshman in 79, and Kay and Coach V were part of my memories and heritage there. I recall when she was in the USSR coaching the women's team. After she returned it was revealed that she smuggled Bibles in to the Russian Christians, knowing full well that had she been caught, she would have gone to the Soviet gulag. What a profile in courage! Now she is at rest with her Savior, and no longer in pain. We left here are all deeply saddened, but she is in bliss and no longer in pain. God bless her! What an example of courage and selfless devotion for us all to follow. Her life transcended far more than just sports. Bess

I never knew her personally but being a female with family members who have had breast cancer.. she is an inspiration and will be missed very dearly .. She was a great icon for women who are battling cancer and should be very proud of her accomplishments in life ..

I'm neither a college sports fan nor a basketball fan, but if you don't know Kay Yow, you're not a North Carolinian. She was such an endearing and humble woman. She was, as I heard it put this morning, a life coach, not just a basketball coach. Her words were those that anyone could live by. It is a sad day. Rest well, sweet woman
